Bellows Falls Promise Community Update:
In Bellows Falls, we're finishing our community profile work and plan to hold a community forum to hear feedback this summer. In the meantime we are hosting monthly community cafes where we ask community members to come together over dinner and discuss how to make lives better for children in our community. All of the stories we hear of strengths, struggles, and successes will be integrated into our planning work.

VCCICC is offering Leadership, Mentoring and Supervision (EDU 2041) at CCV in Springfield this summer. The course will meet face-to-face 5 times on Thursday evenings and the rest will be online. See the attached Summer 2016 Course Announcement for more information and instructions on how to apply. The deadline will be extended past May 6 if space is still available.

This course focuses on the development of leadership and mentoring by practitioners in early education and afterschool settings. It provides a basic understanding of leadership and group dynamics theory including goal setting, decision-making, problem solving, delegation, motivation, and performance evaluation. Students will develop a personal philosophy of leadership and become familiar with strategies for mentoring early childhood and afterschool professionals.

Applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis in the order we receive completed paperwork. There is a $100.00 application fee for community members (or $75.00 for VCCICC members) and a $22 materials fee. Students will also be responsible for acquiring the required textbook. This is a great savings over the usual cost of CCV's tuition and administrative fees for a 3-credit college course!

Vermont is developing Guiding Principles for the Full Participation of Each Child.

The goal is to create a set of principles that ensure each and every child, and their family, feels a sense of belonging in early care and education settings. We are collecting family stories to represent the hopes, values, and voices of Vermont Families to guide the development of these principles,.

Please help collect stories from families you know!

If everyone collects one story, it will help us to weave together a rich narrative and make certain that family voices are included in the development of the guiding principles.

There are many ways to collect & share!
1. Pass out paper surveys

2. Interview families and take detailed notes

3. Interview families and audio record

4. Direct families to fill out online survey at

All stories collected can be shared at [email protected].
