Bellows Falls Promise Community Update:

The Bellows Falls Promise Community hosted another great Community Cafe at Cherry Hill during school vacation. We shared lunch, kids played and collaged, and we talked deeply, laughed loudly, and cried a few times.

We've also hosted two data conversation in the last month-- on advocacy and housing. Did you know that more folks in Bellows Falls rent than own their homes? Or that folks need to make $18.69 per hour to afford a 2 bedroom apartment in the village-- that number doesn't even take into account the cost of childcare.

Unfortunately our monthly planning meeting was scheduled for the only snow day of the year (hope you all had fun skating through the icestorm) so we will join together again on
March 16th from 4-6pm to discuss Early Care and Education opportunities in the village. We hope to have both parents and caregivers present for these conversations. If you are interested in learning more, getting involved, or attending a meeting, please contact [email protected] or like us on facebook-- Bellows Falls Promise Community.)

Let's Grow Kids
was
blown away by the number of campaign supporters who agreed to stand up for Vermont's youngest children by working at the polls in their communities on Town Meeting Day. 180 dedicated volunteers have stepped forward to talk with their neighbors about the child care challenges faced by Vermonters across the state (more than double the number of volunteers from last year!)  ...in 100 local polling sites in 90 towns across Vermont to ensure that Vermonters in every corner of the state and all the towns in between are thinking about our youngest children.

We want to highlight the unsung HEROES OF EARLY CHILDHOOD-the educators, providers, parents, grandparents, business people, opinion leaders, policymakers and clergy who have demonstrated a commitment to the success of Vermont's youngest children that goes above and beyond. And we want your nominations! - See more at: Nominate a Superhero

Because of stories like this one: Sandy from Lydonville Small Talk Video, we need to come together for our kids and caretakers!  If you'd like to learn more about the upcoming Springfield Action Team, please contact [email protected] ; 802-793-2744
