From the Executive Director
After almost four intense and wonderful years as Executive Director of Building Bright Futures (BBF), I am leaving to begin a new chapter in my life. I am proud to have contributed to a stronger state and regional infrastructure which I believe is a necessary precondition for a better system of supports for young children and families of Vermont.

Policy

About 150 women turned out for a daylong event at the Statehouse: the annual Vermont Women's Economic Security Summit.  Traci Sawyers, BBF's Early Childhood Health Expert, participated in a panel on the Impacts of Incarceration, reflecting the recent policy brief published by BBF, "Parental Incarceration and its Effect on Childhood Health."

Statewide notes
National focus on early childhood

For three years running, the First Five Years Fund's annual bipartisan poll shows that early childhood education is a national priority for Americans, regardless of party.  "For the first time in our three years of polling, American voters' top priority is making sure children get a strong start in life, a concern equal to improving the overall quality of public education."
Vermont Early Childhood Leaders Meet, Share, Learn

A team of 17 early childhood professionals from Vermont joined nearly 100 colleagues from four states at the national "Building Bridges: Connecting State and Community Early Childhood Efforts" meeting sponsored by the BUILD Initiative.
