Building Bright Futures
Your source for all things early childhood
Greetings,
Its that time of year again.....its BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!
In the 2014 Legislative Session, legislators passed and Governor Shumlin signed Act 166, which requires all Vermont school districts to provide universal publicly funded prekindergarten education. This bill will come into effect for the school year 2016-2017 however, some districts are early implementers. Therefore, some Vermont school districts are now providing publicly funded prekindergarten (preK) education for three, four, and five year old children not attending kindergarten by establishing partnerships with prequalified early care and education programs, by operating a prequalified preK program, or by doing both. For more information, you can contact your school district or your friendly Orleans and Northern Essex (ONE) Building Bright Futures (BBF) Regional Coordinator :)
As an update, I continue to hold the position of ONE BBF Regional Coordinator, and will do so until my successor is hired. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Job Posting

"Are you, or someone you know, a community-based program seeking to become a prequalified prekindergarten education program under Act 166?  Does employing a licensed teacher with an ECE or ECSE endorsement present a barrier for your program? Do you currently employ/or are you a teacher with a bachelor's degree, a teaching license with a different endorsement or an out of state teaching license?"
