Loretto Foundation Day from the Academy President:

On April 25, we celebrate the 204th anniversary of Loretto's founding.

Foundation Day recalls Loretto's first members and the community's first holy ground, on Hardin Creek at St. Charles, Kentucky. On April 25, 1812, Mary Rhodes, Christina Stuart and Ann Havern began their religious life together in a ceremony conducted by their friend and spiritual guide Father Charles Nerinckx. Could they or the neighbors filling the church have ever imagined that this small community would flourish 204 years later?

Faculty visit the Loretto Motherhouse
Florence Swanson, Megan Honig '06Casey Zoellner '06
and Andy Blair had an inspiring time at The Loretto Motherhouse for the Teacher Immersion program last week.

This annual retreat introduces Loretto school faculty and staff members to the life and work of the Sisters of Loretto. This year's cohort, pictured at right, had a wonderful time listening to the Sisters tell about their faith and work, seeing the beautiful 800-acre Kentucky Farm that is their home, and meeting other Loretto teachers from Loretto Academy in El Paso, TX and Nerinx Hall in St. Louis, MO.

Be sure to read President Cryor's blog this week, which features the Sisters of Loretto, the Motherhouse, and the upcoming Loretto Foundation Day.
