Final Concert in the Forum Before Renovation
| |
The All Academy Concert on Monday night was not only beautiful to hear, but also goes into the history books. It was the last concert to be held in the "old" Forum. Renovation of the Forum begins June 1. Plans include air conditioning, acoustic improvements, new lights, new floor and a new stage. Many concert goers on Monday night agreed that air conditioning will be an excellent improvement. Watch our website for pictures as the project advances!
Monday night's concert included LS, MS, HS orchestra, band, handbells as well as Academy Singers, SAIMARAC and the MS Choir. Congratulations to our musicians and singers.

Faculty Feature: Kathy Rosborough, 8th Grade Science

What is your education?
I have a Masters of Science in Geophysics from Colorado School of Mines, and a Bachelors of Science in Geology and a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, both from the University of Texas at Austin. I hold a Colorado Secondary Science Teaching Certificate from University of Colorado Denver.
How many years have you been at SMA?
I have been teaching 8th grade science at SMA for 2.5 years.
What is your working/teaching experience beyond SMA?
I taught physics, geology, algebra, meteorology, and physical science at Northglenn and Overland High Schools in Denver for ten years, as well as undergraduate geophysics at the University of Oklahoma for two years. Prior to that I worked in the oil and gas/coal industries for 15 years as a geophysicist in Australia (University of New South Wales and BHP), Germany (Julich Research Center and WBK), and Houston (ARCO/Vastar and Fina). I am a member of the Physics National Honor Society Sigma Pi Sigma, and speak German fluently.
What would you name as a memorable classroom/curriculum experience you have experienced?
My greatest joy comes from the students as they excitedly explore science in the lab and in the field. What is something about yourself to share with the SMA community that we might not already know? I love to hike, camp, snowshoe and travel with my family. I am always outside picking up rocks and fossils, investigating plants and animals. I spend summers in Steamboat. |
