BMS Friday Folder

August, 30 2013

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Welcome back!  On behalf of Bernardsville Middle School, I would like to welcome you and your child(ren) back for the 2013-2014 school year.  I hope everyone had a relaxing summer and anticipates the start of an exciting new year on September 6th!

This year, we will be welcoming eight staff members to BMS.  Meredith Panik (School Psychologist), Kaitlyn Roberts (Special Education) and Jessica Allison (Physical Education/Health) join three new teachers in the Mathematics Department: Megan McInaw (grade 5), Anne O'Halloran (grades 5&6) and James Cicchino (grade 7).  Transferring from within the district are Marcy Craver, Guidance Department (grades 7&8) and Judi Martin (Latin). Collectively, we are looking forward to a wonderful school year!

Please see below the forms and procedures for the first-day-of-school.  In addition, it is important that you review, sign and return the documents listed below to your student's first period teacher on Friday, September 6 (the first day of school).

The staff and I would like to extend a very special welcome to each family.  We look forward to working with you and your child and anticipate an outstanding year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lynn Kratz, Principal

First Day of School Procedures - September 6th

Incoming 5th Grade Students Only

On the first day of school, any 5th grade student who arrives prior to 7:30 A.M. should report to the gym. At 7:30 A.M., students in 5th grade will be ushered to the cafeteria, where they will report each morning. All 5th grade students will remain in the cafeteria where they will be greeted by their first period teachers and escorted to their first period classes. During this time, students will receive their schedules that include locker assignments. 5th grade students do not need to have their schedules when they arrive at school on the first day. During first period, teachers will explain student schedules and allow time for locker setup (for those students who did not participate in locker day). Additional time will also be allotted for students to acclimate themselves to their daily routine.

Students in 6th, 7th & 8th Grade

During the last week of August, all students will be able to log onto PowerSchool to access their schedules. Students should arrive on the first day of school with the knowledge of their first period class. In the event that you are unable to access PowerSchool at home, lists of first period classes will also be in the corridor of the main entrance to the school, inside the gymnasium and in the cafeteria. Please note that official schedules and locker assignments will be distributed to the students on the first day of school by their first period teachers.

Student Schedules

Unofficial student schedules will be accessible via PowerSchool on Friday, August 30th. Please keep in mind that official student schedules and locker assignments will be distributed to students on the first day of school by their first period teacher.
