May 31 - Culture Day, During Social Studies Classes 

June 3 - 8th Grade Orientation @ BHS, 8:00 am - 9:45 am (Students report directly to BHS on that day. Any student who is normally bused to school will be dropped off at the high school. Any 8th grade student who walks or is a car rider should report directly to BHS.) 
 
June 5 - 7 - World Language Final Exams, During World Language Classes

New! BMS Earth Science Team Results:
 
The BMS Earth Science Team participated in the 2013 New Jersey Science League, which is a state-wide competition for high schools. BMS was the only middle school team to participate in this competition and after their last competition in April, the BMS Earth Science Team finished in 2nd place in the overall standings! Click here for more detailed results about this outstanding accomplishment. Congratulations to all of the members of the Earth Science Team and to their club adviser, Mr. King!

From the Guidance Department:

 

On June 3, 2013, 8th grade students will be attending an orientation program at BHS.  Students will be introduced to members of the high school staff and administration while becoming familiar with various aspects of high school life.  The following topics will be addressed:
  • Policies/Attendance
  • Athletic Offerings/sign ups
  • Extracurricular offerings/sign ups
  • Peer leadership
  • Service Learning/guidance

Students will have an opportunity to take a brief tour of the campus and ask questions of our peer leaders during that time.  It is our hope that this program will assist students with the transition process and help them to begin their high school experience with confidence and enthusiasm. Attention Parents/Guardians of Fifth Graders!  Have you contacted Mrs. Ryan in the BMS Health Office regarding the immunizations needed for your child to start 6th grade?  The June 1st deadline is approaching! Click here for information regarding this important requirement.

 

 

 

BMS HSA News 

Attention 7th grade Parents! 
 
BMS tradition holds that the 7th grade Class Parents host a reception each year following the 8th grade Graduation Ceremony for 8th grade graduates & families. The HSA sponsored reception will be Wednesday, June 19th in front of the PAC (weather permitting or inside @ the PAC entrance if raining.)
 

Please help provide a lovely reception for the 8th graders & next year's 7th grade class will do the same for us! Please click here to sign up for food and drink donations to be delivered to the Bernards High School PAC entrance by 6pm on June 19th.

Box Tops for Education:  The last Box Tops collection will take place in your childrens' social studies classrooms on Friday, May 31. Please clip and send in all your remaining Box Tops by this date; otherwise they will gather dust in your house all summer long. More importantly, the class with the highest total in the second half of the year will win an ice cream party in June!    

Somerset Hills Education Foundation (SHEF) News

PLANNING FOR SHEF'S FUTURE!

The SHEF Trustees are thrilled to announce the establishment of THE SOMERSET HILLS EDUCATION FOUNDATION PETER J. MILLER ENDOWMENT FUND to honor Superintendent Pete Miller who is retiring on June 30, 2013 after serving the district admirably for 35 years.  Establishing an endowment in the name of Pete Miller recognizes his many contributions, his values and his long term commitment to The Somerset Hills School District (SHSD).  By establishing this fund the SHEF Trustees are planning for the foundation's future - honoring its long-term commitment to promote and provide education opportunities by funding innovative programs and projects for the benefit of the students of the SHSD.  SHEF's goal is to raise $35,000 by June 30 in honor of Peter Miller's 35 years of dedication to the district.  With leading gift contributions by SHEF Trustees already pledged, SHEF is looking forward to the support of the Endowment fund by parents, alumnus and community members who share our commitment to the student's of the SHSD.  To pledge or to make a contribution, CLICK HERE to download the Endowment Fund Letter of Intent.

BMS Sports

New! Fall Sports Registration Information 

 

BMS Sports will be accepting registration/medical forms  between July 10 and July 31 for the following sports. 

 

Field Hockey - 6, 7 and 8 grades

Girls Soccer - 6, 7 and 8 grades

Boys Soccer - 6, 7 and 8 grades

Coed Cross Country 6, 7, 8 grades

 

Please read attached fall sport information sheet for instructions on how to sign your child up for fall sports.
