**WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE FROM THE COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER**
A series of Workshops will be available by grade level to assist parents with planning for College. When possible, please adhere to dates assigned by grade, as the information will be tailored to that specific grade. The schedule of workshops is as follows:
****PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLLEGE PLANNING Q AND A WORKSHOP HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO JUNE 11TH AT 6:30PM****
For Parents of grade 11 students: All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room.
May 29th: Understanding the College Application Components including a look at the Common Application.
Open to all grade levels: All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room.
June 6th: Planning for College Testing
Date Change from June 13th to June 11th: College Planning Q and A. This will be an open agenda. Come with any questions you may have before we break for the summer.
Morning Discussions: Both sessions to be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Room.
May 30th: A discussion of the college application process with regards to athletics
June 11th: A discussion of Trends in the College Application Process. Topics will include finding the right "fit;" pro's and con's of applying early decision/early action and the role parents play assisting their children and working with the counselors.
Student Programs:
Junior Lunch Series: During all 4 lunches in the community room counselors will be available to discuss various topics concerning the college search and application process.
May 28th: Finding your best fit colleges. Counselors will provide tips and resources for helping students narrow down their list of colleges to those that are best suited for them.
June 5th: A review of the Common Application, including a discussion of the updates to new 2013-2014 version.
June 12th: Counselors will be available to answer questions regarding essays, interviews, summer campus visits, etc.
June 4th: Junior/Senior Panel: A panel of Senior BHS students will discuss their experiences throughout the college search and application process with juniors and be available to answer questions.
***As always, Mrs. Labus ([email protected], 204-1930 x2349) will be available throughout the rest of the school year for any parents and/or students who would like an individual meeting to further discuss any questions or concerns pertaining to post-secondary planning.
