As a reminder, school is not in session on Monday, May 27 for Memorial Day. However, we are in session on Tuesday, May 28th. This upcoming week, many of our students will be participating in our Spring Choral Concert. We hope to see you there. Have a great weekend!

School News
From the Guidance Department:
On June 3, 2013, 8th grade students will be attending an orientation program at BHS. Students will be introduced to members of the high school staff and administration while becoming familiar with various aspects of high school life. The following topics will be addressed:
- Policies/Attendance
- Athletic Offerings/sign ups
- Extracurricular offerings/sign ups
- Peer leadership
- Service Learning/guidance
Students will have an opportunity to take a brief tour of the campus and ask questions of our peer leaders during that time. It is our hope that this program will assist students with the transition process and help them to begin their high school experience with confidence and enthusiasm. Somerset Hills community please join us by wearing white on May 30th as a symbolic demonstration of "being united against bullying."

CAP, or Child Assault Prevention, will be holding educational programs in our school for 5th grade students during the week of May 20th. The program aims at informing students about how to identify potentially dangerous situations. The representatives of this program will also be hosting a parent information night on May 20th at 7 pm in the BMS Library. Click here to access more information about this program.

Attention 6th Grade Parents!
We are looking for volunteers and contributions for the 6th grade pool party. Please click the attached google doc to sign up. All donations should be dropped off at the pool on June 18th by 8:45am. Thank you!
Box Tops for Education: The last Box Tops collection will take place in your childrens' social studies classrooms on Friday, May 31. Please clip and send in all your remaining Box Tops by this date; otherwise they will gather dust in your house all summer long. More importantly, the class with the highest total in the second half of the year will win an ice cream party in June!

Somerset Hills Education Foundation (SHEF) News
PLANNING FOR SHEF'S FUTURE!
The SHEF Trustees are thrilled to announce the establishment of THE SOMERSET HILLS EDUCATION FOUNDATION PETER J. MILLER ENDOWMENT FUND to honor Superintendent Pete Miller who is retiring on June 30, 2013 after serving the district admirably for 35 years. Establishing an endowment in the name of Pete Miller recognizes his many contributions, his values and his long term commitment to The Somerset Hills School District (SHSD). By establishing this fund the SHEF Trustees are planning for the foundation's future - honoring its long-term commitment to promote and provide education opportunities by funding innovative programs and projects for the benefit of the students of the SHSD. SHEF's goal is to raise $35,000 by June 30 in honor of Peter Miller's 35 years of dedication to the district. With leading gift contributions by SHEF Trustees already pledged, SHEF is looking forward to the support of the Endowment fund by parents, alumnus and community members who share our commitment to the student's of the SHSD. HONOR A STAFF MEMBER TODAY! SHEF has initiated its 5th annual end of year Staff Tribute Program where parents can make a donation to SHEF in the name of a SHSD staff member. New! Fall Sports Registration Information
BMS Sports will be accepting registration/medical forms between July 10 and July 31 for the following sports.
Field Hockey - 6, 7 and 8 grades
Girls Soccer - 6, 7 and 8 grades
Boys Soccer - 6, 7 and 8 grades
Coed Cross Country 6, 7, 8 grades
Please read attached fall sport information sheet for instructions on how to sign your child up for fall sports.
