SHEF College and Career Center

 

**NEW WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE FROM THE COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER**

A series of Workshops will be available by grade level to assist parents with planning for College.  When possible, please adhere to dates assigned by grade, as the information will be tailored to that specific grade.   The schedule of workshops is as follows:

 

For Parents of grade 9 students:  All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room

April 16th:  Planning for enrichment throughout the school year and over the summer.

 

For Parents of grade 10 students:  All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room

April 16th:  Planning for enrichment throughout the school year and over the summer.

 

For Parents of grade 11 students:  All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room. 

April 30th:  Using Naviance to conduct a thorough search for colleges (make-up session).

May 29th:  Understanding the College Application Components including a look at the Common Application.

 

Open to all grade levels:  All workshops will be held at 6:30pm in the Community Room.

May 9th:  How will I pay for college?

June 6th:  Planning for College Testing 

June 13th:  College Planning Q and A.  This will be an open agenda.  Come with any questions you may have before we break for the summer.

Deadline Next Week      ATTENTION PARENTS OF SENIORS

Caps & Gowns & Tassels will be ordered for your son/daughter within the next two weeks. Please make checks payable to the Class of 2013 for $25.   Money is due to Ms. Cerza by March 28th!

 

The Senior Prom is Friday, June 7th.  The prom will be held at the Madison Hotel.  Details will be forthcoming in the month of April. 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Petitions are now available for any BHS Freshman, Sophomore or Junior who would like to run for Student Council office for the 2013-2014 school year.  Click here to download the petition form.

 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 $1000.00 Student Council Scholarship.  Seniors who have made significant contributions to the BHS community should apply.  Click here to download the application.  The application can also be found in guidance.

 

 

JAZZ BAND AND WIND ENSEMBLE CRIMSON CAFE

The BHS Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble Crimson Caf� will celebrate New Orleans this year.  The event will be take place in the Performing Arts Center at BHS at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  

Music and Buffet Supper 

Adults $40.00,  Seniors  $20.00, Students $10.00  

All are Welcome

Reminder to all students: If you have yet to submit your community service forms to Ms. Sosely for the third marking period, please do so by next Thursday, March 28th. If you are in need of hours, please visit the Service Learning page, or see Ms. Sosely for more information. Thank you!

 
  
New     SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY

On April 20 from 8-10 am residents will be volunteering to help pick up litter in Bernardsville. Participants can register via e-mail by submitting their name and location they would like to clean. It can be any area of Bernardsville that needs attention. You can register as a group or a individual, or you can just participate that day by reporting to Base Camp to obtain trash bags. Please byo gloves. If students would like a form filled out for community service, please include that in the e-mail.  Click here for more information.

 

 

New     NJ TRANSIT TRAIN SCHEDULE CHANGE 

Effective Monday, March 24, new rail schedules take effect.  Service will be restored to the same schedule as it was before Hurricane Sandy.  The bus that has been transporting students from BHS to the train stations in the afternoon will be discontinued - the last day it will run is Friday, March 22. 

 

 

SIDE WALKS AND STUDENT SAFETY
It has been brought to the attention of the administration by concerned parents that students who are walking to/from the high school have not been utilizing the sidewalks.  It is imperative that we encourage our students to be safe pedestrians and to stay out of the roadways.  We appreciate your assistance in keeping our students safe and avoiding unnecessary tragedies.  Thank you.

 

"TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE"  DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW

DOWNED TREES AND OPEN LUNCH 

Attention all students:  We have been alerted that there are trees uprooted by the storm that are dangerously hanging over the path from the high school to the Burger King parking lot.  Until further notice, students are not permitted to use that path at any time.  Students seen using the path during the school day will receive disciplinary consequences. 

  


NHS PEER TUTORING PROGRAM 2012-13
The National Honor Society members offer an in-school tutoring program for any high school students who need extra help in their classes. Students who need extra help will be matched with a NHS member who will meet them once a week during a shared free period. This weekly meeting will continue as long as the student needing help stays in contact with their matched NHS member. If any student is interested in being matched with a tutor, they are to fill out the NHS Tutoring Form and return it to either Ms. Peppe ([email protected]) or Dr. Hogge ([email protected]).
