REVISED DISTRICT CALENDAR

Due to Hurricane Sandy, we missed eight days of school that must be made up. Three snow days are always built into our district calendar so these are the first to be used; therefore, school will be in session on May 23, 24 and 28. Five additional days will be made up on November 9, January 21, February 15 and 18 and April 5.

We are very hopeful that we have an uneventful winter. If, however, any additional days are lost, we will take those days from spring break, April 4, 3, 2 and 1, in that order. If even more days are

needed, the next step would be either to open on other closed days or add days to the end of the school year.

The district has been informed by the Commissioner of Education that the 180 school day requirement will not be waived.  Saturdays will not be considered as make up days by the Department of Education until all possible make up days have been used.   Click here for a copy of the revised District Calendar.

NHS PEER TUTORING PROGRAM 2012-13
The National Honor Society members offer an in-school tutoring program for any high school students who need extra help in their classes. Students who need extra help will be matched with a NHS member who will meet them once a week during a shared free period. This weekly meeting will continue as long as the student needing help stays in contact with their matched NHS member. If any student is interested in being matched with a tutor, they are to fill out the NHS Tutoring Form and return it to either Ms. Peppe ([email protected]) or Dr. Hogge ([email protected]). Click here for a copy of the form.

CONSTRUCTION

There will be construction work on Mt. Airy Road beginning January 7 for several weeks.  Water mains on Mt. Airy Road between South Street and Prospect Avenue are being replaced. The contractor plans on allowing school buses to travel on Mt. Airy, but there may be delays if equipment needs to be moved to allow the buses to pass.  We will be monitoring buses and make adjustments to pick up times if necessary.  For those children whose bus stop locations are on Mt. Airy Road, we will have to wait and see how the construction work will impact them.

Please advise any children who walk on Mt. Airy Road to use extreme caution during the construction work.
