TEEN ADVENTURE PROGRAM

The Somerset Hills YMCA has developed new Teen Adventure Programming based on an identified community need for exciting activities that provide 7th & 8th graders with healthy risk-taking opportunities. This mission-driven program is designed to fill the gap in programming for this age group by addressing the needs of middle school students and providing them with opportunities that foster a sense of independence and encourage healthy behaviors.See attached flyer for program.

NEW -SOMERSET COUNTY VOCATIONAL & TECHNICAL HS OPEN HOUSE

In celebration of Career and Technical Education Month, SC Vocational & Technical High School (a fully accredited, four year high school located on an eighty acre campus at 14 Vogt Drive in Bridgewater) will hold its 6th Annual Open House from 9 AM - 12 Noon on Saturday, February 2,  A snow date of February 9th has been set in case of inclement weather.

During the event, faculty and staff will be available to answer questions as well as provide information on each of the 17 Career and Technical Education Programs available at SCVTHS.  Some highlights of the day include campus tours, a full review of all academic offerings, and program demonstrations.  In addition, hors d'oeuvres will be served by Culinary Arts students in the cafeteria, where guests can meet with the advisors of SCVTHS sports teams, extracurricular activities and clubs. The Girls Leadership Institute teaches girls the skills to live life boldly. They empower girls to know who they are, what they believe, and how to express it. These skills allow girls to engage more authentically with others and create change in their world. The GLI Real Parents/Real Daughters workshop for 4th and 5th grade girls is scheduled to be held at BMS in February.  See flyer for details.

Spring Baseball is coming! Registration is now open for Somerset Hills Little League. SHLL programs are open to all residents of Bernardsville, Peapack, and Gladstone. CHILD HEALTH CONFERENCE

The Bernards Township Health Department conducts a monthly no cost clinic for children who are not covered by health insurance which ensures that children receive appropriate vaccinations in a timely manner.  

The services provided are: Growth and development assessments, Immunizations for newborns through children 18 years of age, Nutrition assessment and counseling, and Information and education on childhood health, safety, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in the area, Pediatric Dental Program, NJ Snap (Food Stamps), etc. This influenza vaccine is available to those who attend at our Child Health Conference.

Mike Landau, retired CEO of SetFocus, a technology school, will speak about the continuous process of acquiring learning skills to stay current in the technological age.  He'll discuss where technology is going; what new skills are needed to be effective in the workforce; how to think exponentially; and how to create your own plan to acquire the skills you need. Heartworks invites area residents to its second annual Valentine's Day Celebration and Fundraiser at 7:00pm on Saturday, February 2 at the Liberty Corner Fire House on Church Street in Bernards Township.  Individual tickets are offered for $75 and sponsorships are available by contacting [email protected] or (908) 766-4400. Donations of silent auction items such as a week at a vacation home, jewelry, or tickets to a sporting event also are needed.
