The Somerset Hills School District

  

NEW -SCHOOL SECURITY

Effective immediately, visitors to The Somerset Hills School District may be asked to show a photo ID upon arrival.    Additionally, as a reminder, all visitors are required sign in at the main office, state the purpose of the visit, wear a visitor's badge, sign out, and return the visitor's badge when leaving.

Penguin Craft--Monday, January 14 at 4:30 pm. Free family craft program. Bring a water bottle and make a penguin. No sign-up is needed.

MUSIC IN THE SOMERSET HILLS

The acclaimed soloists from our Messiah return for an intimate afternoon of ravishing arias and art songs in the beautiful acoustic of the Parish Hall at the Church of St. John on the Mountain. Performers include Dashon Burton, winner of the 2012 NY Oratorio Society Competition, and Laquita Mitchell, A MET Opera National Council Auditions Grand Prize Winner.

Spring Baseball is coming! Registration is now open for Somerset Hills Little League. SHLL programs are open to all residents of Bernardsville, Peapack, and Gladstone. CHILD HEALTH CONFERENCE

The Bernards Township Health Department conducts a monthly no cost clinic for children who are not covered by health insurance which ensures that children receive appropriate vaccinations in a timely manner.  

The services provided are: Growth and development assessments, Immunizations for newborns through children 18 years of age, Nutrition assessment and counseling, and Information and education on childhood health, safety, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in the area, Pediatric Dental Program, NJ Snap (Food Stamps), etc. This influenza vaccine is available to those who attend at our Child Health Conference.

ORCHIDS OF NEW JERSEY AND BEYOND

Enjoy the elusive wild orchids of the region with one of the best naturalists/botanists in the state. The PowerPoint presentation is chock-full of rarities and plants you will never see on your own. This is a must-see program for anyone who loves wildflowers.

MERRILL CREEK RESERVOIR AND ENVIRONS

Saturday, January 19 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Associate naturalist Terry Carruthers will guide you at Merrill Creek Reservoir and other local hotspots for wintering waterfowl, raptors, and passerines. Last winter the reservoir was home to N.J.'s only Snowy Owl, and you never know what to expect.

It's never too late to be a Girl Scout.  Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey has many volunteer opportunities for adults, men and women aged 18 and older, to volunteer in your local community.  Whether you work directly with girls or on a team with other adults, volunteer opportunities range from a short term event, delivering a short program, to a long term commitment, becoming a troop leader and role model to girls aged 5-17.
