December 15, 2012   We are all deeply saddened and concerned about the tragic event that has taken place in Connecticut.   I want to assure you that student and staff safety has always been and will continue to be a priority in The Somerset Hills School District. All of our school safety and security plans were completely updated at the start of the school year following the new State Department of Education guidelines.   The revised plans were done in conjunction with local, county, and state law enforcement agencies.   In addition, all of our administrators have been trained to implement these procedures and student safety and security drills are conducted each month in each of our schools.   Additionally, our district's school emergency response teams complete ongoing training with local law enforcement.   Many security upgrades have recently been added throughout the district.  I will be meeting with local law enforcement officials, our district administrative team, and the Board of Education to discuss additional security enhancements. Please know that our staff will be prepared to work with our students in the days ahead.   Pete Miller Superintendent
