REVISED DISTRICT CALENDAR
Due to Hurricane Sandy, we missed eight days of school that must be made up. Three snow days are always built into our district calendar so these are the first to be used; therefore, school will be in session on May 23, 24 and 28. Five additional days will be made up on November 9, January 21, February 15 and 18 and April 5.
We are very hopeful that we have an uneventful winter. If, however, any additional days are lost, we will take those days from spring break, April 4, 3, 2 and 1, in that order. If even more days are needed, the next step would be either to open on other closed days or add days to the end of the school year.
The district has been informed by the Commissioner of Education that the 180 school day requirement will not be waived. Saturdays will not be considered as make up days by the Department of Education until all possible make up days have been used. Attached is the revised District Calendar.

HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORTS
Several Hurricane Sandy relief efforts have been brought to our attention that we are passing along.
Please help the Lavallette School The Lavallette School has been displaced due to the mandatory evacuation of the New Jersey barrier island. This evacuation is estimated to be 6-8 months or more. In effort to keep our children together, the Lavallette School is establishing a satellite location at the St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River. The Lavallette School does not have access to any of their school supplies. The school is in need of supplies in order to have their satellite school function. We are asking anyone interested in assisting the school and making a donation can do so in the form of gift cards to Staples, Costco, Target, Best Buy, Visa/MasterCard, Walmart, K-Mart, or checks payable to the "Lavallette School". We are also interested in borrowing laptop computers for our students if anyone has access to computers. Donations can be dropped off at the St Barbara Greek Church office from 9-3 pm Monday thru Friday or mailed to : St Barbara Greek Orthodox Church C/O Lavallette School 2200 Church Rd Toms River, NJ 08753 If you have any questions you can call Ali Zylinski 732-684-0537
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The BHS Book Club will be sponsoring a Book Drive for the Salvation Army to benefit the families affected by Hurricane Sandy. Please drop off any new or gently used books to the BHS Main Office or Room B-303. A box will also be placed in district libraries and book stores.
