SCHOOL IN SESSION MONDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH
BHS is in session on Monday, November 12th and we will follow a regular bell schedule.

COMMUNITY SERVICE FAIR FOR STUDENTS
Despite a rather tumultuous past two weeks, we are excited to return to Bernards High School and we hope all is well with you and your families. Now, more than ever, we are looking to work together and to provide great service to those in need. That said, Bernards High School will be hosting a community service fair for students during student lunch periods (10:06 - 1:06) next Wednesday, November 14th, in the lobby outside of the school cafeteria. While we will continue posting information about ways in which students can get involved in our area to help those in need, there will be several organizations at the fair to provide information about local opportunities to our students. Such organizations will include Junior Matheny, Bernardsville Public Library, Peapack-Gladstone Library, National MS Society, Bernardsville Fire Department and Ambulance Squad, and Junior Heartworks. We plan on hosting additional community service fairs throughout the year. Stay safe and do not hesitate to contact Anna Sosely with any concerns you may have at 908-204-1930 ext. 2131.

COLLEGE APPLICATION DEADLINES
The Guidance Staff is available to assist any students with questions or concerns regarding their applications. As a result of the storm, we wanted all parents and students to know that the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) has encouraged colleges to either extend their upcoming deadlines, or to deal with students on a case by case basis for those that have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. The NACAC website is providing a list of schools that are extending deadlines, or reviewing cases of students that already missed a deadline. Any students who have any concerns regarding their applications that were sent online are encouraged to call the school directly to find out if their application has been received. As always, feel free to call or email your guidance counselor with any additional concerns you may have.

BOOK CLUB BOOK DRIVE TO BENEFIT THOSE AFFECTED BY HURRICANE SANDY
The BHS Book Club will be sponsoring a Book Drive for the Salvation Army to benefit the families affected by Hurricane Sandy.  Please drop off any new or gently used books to the BHS Main Office or Room B-303.  A box will also be placed in district libraries and book stores.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
Our school community feels strongly about helping those in need, especially during these trying times.  We are compiling a list of opportunities to help those affected by Sandy.  A district email will be sent out early next week with a list of opportunities.

HSA MEETING
The next Home and School Association meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 7:30 PM.  All are welcome.
