Hurricane Sandy Update for SHSD

  • As of Friday,  November 2 at 2 p.m., all of our schools remain without power.
  • Our district staff, along with outside contractors, have been working diligently throughout the week.  Our schools will be ready to open as soon as power is restored and roads are safe for school buses.
  • A Red Cross Shelter has been established at Bernards High School.
  • The NJEA Convention scheduled for next Thursday and Friday has been cancelled.  If power has been restored, our intention is to have schools open on November 8 and 9.
  • Many families may have plans for those two days, and we will make appropriate modifications to our attendance policy.
  • Additional school calendar modifications  will be provided as soon as possible.
  • At this time, the district will likely be closed on Monday, November 5.  An update will be provided on Saturday, November 3.
  • The SAT scheduled for Saturday, November 3 at Ridge High School has tentatively been rescheduled for Saturday, November 17.
Thank you for your continued cooperation during this difficult time.

Pete Miller, Superintendent
