BMS Calendar
October 22-26 - Red Ribbon/Violence Prevention Week
October 26 - Halloween Dance Grades 7 & 8. Tickets for the dance can be purchased for $6 and will be sold in the morning from 7:15 - 7:40 outside the gymnasium.

Co-Curricular Club Announcements
Forensics - Are you dramatic? Do you like performing in front of group? Then, you should try out BMS's Forensics club! Sign-ups have begun, and you can pick up the permission slip from Ms. MacGorman in the library! The first meeting is Wednesday, October 17th! Click HERE to download the permission slip!
Open Gym:
Attention 5/6th Graders: Are you interested in participating in Open Gym? Open Gym will run the on Tuesdays and Fridays for the month of October. Please pick up a permission slip from Ms. Both in Room 154 or click here . Any questions, please contact Ms. Both or Mr. Gilly. Attention all 8th Grade Parents: Yearbooks are now on sale!! If you wish to submit a baby ad for your 8th grade son or daughter, please follow the attached instructions by clicking here If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. Heydt at jtrapp@shsd.org. BMS Writing Lab - The Writing Lab will convene on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, from 2:50-3:50, in the BMS Computer Lab Room 234. Students are welcome to bring current writing assignments to work on, including but not limited to: open-ended responses, journals, essays, poems, contest entries, and free-writes.

BMS HSA News
Next HSA Meeting Announcement: Our next HSA Meeting will be Tuesday October 23rd at 9am in the BMS Library. Our guest speaker will be guidance counselor Christopher Habermas who will discuss our upcoming assembly Rachel's Challenge and Respect Week.

8th Grade Holiday Wreath and Greenery Sale is Underway! Place your order today for beautiful wreaths, boxwood trees and more! Your purchase will help offset the cost of the 8th grade trip to New York City! Access an order form or see your favorite 8th grade student to order. Items will be ready for pickup on November 27th. The 5th and 6th Grade Halloween Party is on October 31st and your donations to make this a fun party are greatly appreciated. Please sign up using this Google Doc link by clicking here. Thank you! The HSA's BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION Program is up and running for the new school year! Collection bins are in the students' social studies classrooms, ready for all those General Mills box tops clipped over the summer and throughout the school year. Our first mail-in date for monetary reimbursement is the end of October, so let's stuff those bins! All proceeds earned go directly into HSA programs to benefit the children. In addition, the social studies class collecting the greatest number of box tops in each half of the year will win an ice cream party! SHEF Sponsored Events:Attention Parents! Have you heard of Google Docs but don't know what it is or how it works? Now is your chance! SHEF is sponsoring a FREE hands-on computer seminar in the BHS Library Computer lab on Thursday, October 25 at 10:00 am. Come learn about Google Docs, managing your volunteer lists online, sharing data with other volunteers and managing your group calendar. Click here to access the invitation. Join Principal Lynn Kratz, Trustees from the Somerset Hills Education Foundation(SHEF) and BMS HSA Representatives for the upcoming Bernardsville Middle School Newcomers Coffee. These casual events will provide a chance for parents to learn about SHEF and the BMS HSA and how they support the students of BMS. BMS SPORTS NEWS
BMS Sports will be accepting registrations for Boys and Girls Basketball from September, 24th thru October 17.
All 6th, 7th and 8th graders are invited to tryout.
Please review attached information sheets for details about the program and instructions on how to register.
NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE OCTOBER 17TH DEADLINE.
