IELLA and the Tenants in Foreclosure Project

IELLA Logo
In this new feature, LAAC will showcase a project from one our members every month. If you're interested in sharing a project, please contact Patrick at [email protected].

Inland Empire Latino Lawyers Association (IELLA) was recently selected as one of the recipients of the Community Action Grant to assist tenants in foreclosure.

Reina Canale, the Executive Director of IELLA, shares the inspirational story about a client who was served with an unlawful detainer after faithfully paying his rent. This client is just one example of how tenants can fall victims to foreclosure and how organizations like IELLA step up to help them keep their homes.

Advocacy

LAAC-supported bill on increasing the minimum wage just passed the California Assembly! For more information on all the bills we are supporting, monitoring, or opposing this session, go to our advocacy page.

LAAC is also working to keep you informed of all the Stat Bar Board of Trustees proposals this year. The Board of Trustees is currently considering proposals to change MCLE, require pro bono and practical skill training for new attorneys, and allow nonattorneys to practice law. LAAC is following all those issues, attending meeting, and sharing resources whenever we find them. Let us know if you have any questions at all about any of the upcoming meetings!
