Recognizing excellence in our community
Are you interested in sponsoring a law student to work in your office this summer?
Each year, LAAC invites law students working with LAAC member legal services programs during the summer to apply for the Dan Bradley Summer Fellowship Program. The goal of the Fellowship is to offer law students, particularly those from low-income or working class backgrounds, the opportunity to consider a career in legal services and other public interest law while providing legal services and other programs with a new source of dedicated and energetic staff. There is no matching financial cost for an organization to host a Dan Bradley Fellow.
To learn more about the fellowship, click here.
Congratulations to the 2013 Family Law Awards honorees!
LAAC and the Administrative Office of the Courts will honor two advocates at this year's Family Law Conference:

- Harry Jacobs, Administrative Office of the Courts
The Family Law Awards recognize advocates in direct representation, pro bono, and court categories for their outstanding dedication and commitment to legal services for low-income Californians.
The awards will take place during the 2013 Family Law Conference. Sponsorship opportunities are available! For more information or to purchase tickets, click here. Congratulations, Amanda and Harry!

LAAC members testify in Sacramento!
On February 12, two LAAC representatives testified before the A ssembly Judiciary Committee on the Access to Justice Crisis for California's families. We have links to the testimony, the archived video, and other important facts on our website. LAAC is beginning to track current legislation on our advocacy page. Last year, we included fact sheets, template letters of support, and recommendations from our community on bill positions. If you know of any bills that your organization is tracking, please let Salena, LAAC's Directing Attorney, know. We'd love to host your fact sheets on our site! LAAC submitted a comment to the Judicial Council on mandatory e-filing. We intend to follow this issue as mandatory e-filing is considered in California. Expect updates on our website.
