Our 17th annual ARTSGALA is right around the corner now and the excitement is palpable! In just eight days we will welcome over 800 people to campus for an unforgettable night of arts entertainment by our incredible students in Art, Music, and Theatre, Dance and Motion Pictures. Tickets are still available online if you hurry fast! The success of this event each year wouldn't be possible without the hard work, passion, and dedication of some amazing individuals. Thank you, thank you to the amazing ARTSGALA Internal Committee: Jennie Buckwalter, Linda Caron, and Susan Paul Dean's Office; Glen Cebulash and Nancy Patton, Art & Art History; Tess Cortes, Stein Art Galleries; Stuart McDowell and Vicki Oleen, Theatre, Dance, & Motion Pictures; Randy Paul, Steve Aldredge, Jerry Noble, and Hank Dahlman, Music; Susan See, Lee Ann Bradfield, and Julie Bertsos, Student Union Administrative Office; and Andrea Wall, WSU Foundation Office.
ARTSGALA 2016 will be able to expand into the new addition of the Creative Arts Center that includes the Robert and Elaine Stein Art Galleries, Dance Studio, and Stage Combat Studio, as well as an iconic entrance. I have loved watching the addition develop with the dichroic glass, external panels, entrance ramp and stairs, and the 'eyelash' as some people call it. The CAC will close down this summer to undergo its last internal metamorphosis within the commons, classrooms, and studios. All-in-all the addition adds 25,500 sq. ft. of new space, and the renovations encompass 104,400 sq. ft. All will be completed in time for the Fall semester!
WSU is hosting a Faculty Mentoring Excellence Summit on April 21, 10 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Student Union. Faculty mentoring plays a vital, but often invisible, role in higher education, and at this inaugural event faculty can learn about different approaches and strategies to get the most out of the mentoring experience. To learn more or register, visit www.Wright.edu/faMESummit.
This week's Dean's Student Advisory Board featured members are Rachel Jackson and John Klugh.

Rachel Jackson is a junior majoring in piano performance and minoring in business. She has been playing the piano since she was 6 and enjoys sharing music with others. She has been teaching private piano lessons for over 5 years and currently has 10 students. During the spring of 2015, Rachel's piano trio was chosen to perform in a master class with Maestro Keith Lockhart, the conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra. Along with her piano studies, Rachel also plays the viola in WSU's Chamber Orchestra.

John Klugh is a senior earning a dual major in Philosophy and Religion. As a freshman, Klugh was elected Treasurer of Crosswalk Campus Ministry, one of the largest religious organizations on campus, and soon advanced to assume a position as the President. From there, he founded and became the first President of Wright State's activist organization Ahimsa's Army, a group dedicated to minimizing violence in the community through public demonstrations, open forums, and direct involvement. John is currently serving his second year on the Dean's Student Advisory Board, working to improve the College of Liberal Arts to serve the needs of the students.
