What is the Right Surface for your Playground?
Choosing the best surface for your school, backyard playground or neighborhood is imperative for maximizing play and minimizing injury. There are several playground materials available at No Fault Sport Group that provide enjoyable and safe playground surfaces. No one surface is perfect for every playground, so it is important to consider your options carefully! In addition to safety, factors such as weather for your area, budget and durability should always be considered before choosing a playground surface. No Fault Safety Surface, Rubber Mulch, Bonded Rubber Mulch and Safety Tiles are products that will increase the safety, beauty and life of your playground for years to come.
Approximately 200,000 children are treated in emergency rooms every year due to injuries sustained on a playground. Countless injuries occur when children tumble to the ground and injure themselves on a hard surface. Having a safe material on the playground floor to cushion their fall will reduce the severity of these accidents. No Fault surfaces provide this type of protection.
Playgrounds that are surrounded by rubber surfacing, such as No Fault Safety Surface, are safer than other surfaces and are ASTM & ADA compliant. The poured surface is smooth and level, making it ideal for wheelchair access. Additional benefits to a solid rubber playground system are that it is cleaner and virtually maintenance free. Other types of surfacing, such as sand, bark mulch or pea gravel tend to attract animals and must be maintained daily. Should a child jump or fall from equipment, they are less likely to sustain a critical or fatal head injury. In addition to head injury prevention, No Fault Safety Surface is seamless, slip resistant, porous and is easy to maintain.
No Fault Rubber Mulch, another exceptional safety surface, comes in nugget or shredded form. Rubber Mulch is an environmentally sustainable product that is non-toxic, organically colored with UV protectors and is guaranteed not to fade. No Fault Rubber Mulch holds several key advantages as a playground surface option, including the fact that it is durable, clean and doesn't attract animals. No Fault Rubber Mulch comes in a variety of colors to make your playground visually appealing.
No Fault Bonded Rubber Mulch consists of a single density pour of shredded rubber mulch blended with traditional polyurethane adhesive which gives a unique, natural appearance to your playground. This all-purpose poured-in-place rubber safety surface is ASTM & ADA approved and meets particular fall height protection. It will not deteriorate or fade, drains well and dries quickly. No Fault Bonded Rubber Mulch is an excellent selection for numerous playgrounds.
Finally, No Fault Safety Tiles are factory molded tiles made from 100% recycled rubber. Various depths are designed to reduce the risk to children of serious injury associated with falls. No Fault Safety Tiles are available in many color options, are easily installed, easily maintained and are perfect for either indoor or outdoor applications.
Choosing the right surface for a playground is an important component of the playground construction process. It is crucial to ensure the equipment on which your child is playing is safe and that the surface beneath it is equally safe. At No Fault Sport Group, it is our goal to provide the safest and most appropriate playground surface for each individual project.

Project Spotlight: Percy Priest Elementary
Percy Priest Elementary School, like so many other schools, had wood mulch in their playgrounds. They were looking to upgrade and set their sights on nothing but the best, No Fault Safety Surface. No Fault worked for many months with PTO committee member, Gretchen Howell, to design a turn-key project that would revolutionize their play areas into the 21st century. This was no small feat as they are massive in size...a whopping 12,000 square feet! Percy Priest not only shares their playgrounds with the school's after-care program and Tiger Club, but the City of Forest Hills uses these facilities as a public park. The school and city collaborated efforts to raise funds and the upgrades went underway this summer. The results speak for themselves! "...the kids and families love it - thank you all so much...Thanks again, best to all!", says Gretchen Howell.

No Fault Sport Group Preserves the Environment
Every one knows No Fault produces the industry standard in safety surfacing. We've installed more than 15,000,000 square feet of safety surface in seven countries since we began our business nearly 40 years ago. All that adds up to 12,000 happy customers, countless lives saved due to proper surfacing and innumerable hours of fun, safe play for children all over the world.
Some other numbers that have become of interest in recent years are those related to LEED credits. While the United States Green Building Council wasn't founded until 1993, building "green" is something that's always been an important aspect of No Fault's business. Since we started in 1974, it's estimated that No Fault has kept roughly 9.2 million tires from littering United States landfills. We followed environmental standards before there were any. Companies are now incentivized to use "green" materials to receive immense tax benefits.
No Fault is proud to offer an array of surfacing that helps customers qualify for these credits. Currently, our products qualify under credit numbers MR 4, MR 4.1-4.2 and EQ 4.1. The entire purpose of LEED credits is to increase the demand for building products that incorporate recycled content, thereby decreasing the negative effects associated with manufacturing and extracting virgin materials.
By using No Fault Sport Group, not only can you achieve that goal, but also meet the immediate safety needs of children, allowing them to play without the risk of critical injury. While we've always been proud of the work we do to keep kids safe, we're also proud of the role we play in helping to preserve the environment.
