A Team Member
Hans van Ryswyk
Having hung up his drumsticks in the early nineties, Hans started his own company specialising in backing tracks, karaoke mixes and composing and recording his own material before joining The Source team.
Through building up a database of tracks as well as a database of knowledge, Hans' musical expertise is so vast that legend has it, that if Hans does not know a track or recognise a tune, it probably doesn't exist...
Hans currently focuses on the licensing and compilation side of the business at The Source, and as he has now been compiling for 23 years, there is a very good chance that you already have one of Hans's compilations in your music collection... Enjoy!

Summer holiday season at The Source
The summer season is rapidly approaching. When staff members are on vacation, we will of course still deliver your releases as rapidly as ever.
However, since we might have less capacity to deal with urgent and ad hoc matters, please make sure you take the proper processing time into account.
This means that it is even more important to keep in mind that you have to deliver your release to us three calender weeks in advance of the release date and to make sure all assets and metadata is in conformity with our specs.
If you deliver any later than that, we will of course still try to make the release date, but we can't guarantee anything.

Sneak Preview! New The Source Website Functionality
The Source will soon be launching its all new website, including a brand new search function which we are making available today for a sneak preview...
The technical wizards at The Source have been busy and the new search functionality has been designed to best meet the needs of our clients with the specific requirements that have been presented to us.
There are several search options available. A "Basic Search" which can be done using the "Artist" name, with the possibility to also search using Keywords such as "Genre", "SubGenre", "Other Influences", "Language", "Subject", "Region" or "Instrument".
There is also an "Advanced Search" option which allows further search criteria such as searching by "Label", "Recording Version" and "Reporting Code" (from the Content Editor). The results screens are very clear, showing the results in four separate sections: "Album", "Track", "Visuals" and "Ringtones". Each section can then be expanded individually as desired.
The search function is public and available to all, but with your Content Editor account you can use the account details to log in and check out the fantastic new basket function too.
The new basket function allows you to create and submit a license request, a sync license request, an album for delivery or a make a mastering request. And all this is done with the simplest of forms making all these requests a simple and fast process.

Spotify Reaches 20 Million Users
Spotify recently reached the very respectable milestone of 20 million monthly users.
By adding 500,000 new users in under two weeks, and 1.5 million users since the end of April, Spotify has reached 20 million monthly users, in no small part, thanks to its Facebook App. It is the integration with Facebook, together with Spotify's US launch, which have combined to create this impressive and rapid growth.
Even better news however, is that Spotify has seen a steady increase in free users upgrading to paying subscribers with the rate currently at 27%.
Should the current figures be an indication of the year ahead, then the next twelve months could see Spotify with 36 million total users, including an impressive 8 million paid users, by the end of May 2013 (figures from Music Industry Blog).
