Daffodil Parade

It was great to see everyone at the Daffodil Parade last month!  We were able to showcase our new livestock trailer that we obtained from a grant presented to FAYMAS by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians.  Thank you to our volunteers who were in the parade as well.

Shelter Remodel Information

The shelter will be having new flooring and a new front counter installed Tuesday May 24th thru Friday May 27th.  During our construction, we will not be having any viewing or adoptions, but intakes and redemptions will still be done.  We will be working out of the "garage" portion of the shelter during the remodel.  Please check our Facebook page or our regular web page for updates in case the projects takes longer to finish.  Thank you for your patience during this time!

Cheyenne's Success Story!

Metro got a call from a local business that a dog was abandoned at its back door.  When Officer Smith got there, she found the dog behind the business in a wire crate with a blanket over the top.  It appeared to be a miniature Aussie or Sheltie mix.  The dog was extremely thin with urine-stained hair.  She had kind eyes, but seemed worried.  The smell of feces and urine was almost overpowering. Officer Smith brought the dog to the shelter where she was taken out of the kennel.  She was extremely frightened.  Her weight was only 7.9lbs. which is about half of what she should've been!  Her hair coat was very dirty, stained with urine and feces, falling out in clumps, dry, and brittle.  In short, someone had neglected this dog terribly!  After a short settling in, she was bathed and combed. She LOVED it!  We named her "Cheyenne".  She ate everything offered to her and her personality began to blossom too.  No longer the shy, scared dog, she began to solicit attention and showed us she loved to play fetch.  Her coat improved after a few more baths and brushes and good food.  With little more than love, attention, and good food "Cheyenne" gained over three pounds in about two weeks!  She was placed into adoption.  A woman contacted us looking for a female medium small dog.  She and "Cheyenne" were a perfect match.  The woman had recently lost her rescue Sheltie that had previously been abused.  She understood the needs of a rehab dog, Sheltie mixes in general, and was specifically looking for just that kind of dog.  "Cheyenne" loved the woman from the first meeting and the rest is "Happily Ever After".  We couldn't be happier with the outcome for this new Forever Family!
