 Paws a Moment

Issue 17

Keep your critters from getting the Halloween jitters!

There is nothing more precious than seeing our pets dressed up as our favorite characters and while it is fun to celebrate the holiday with our four-legged companions, it is important to be mindful of a few safety tips to avoid a hair-raising Halloween.

  • No candy or chocolate for your pooch!
  • Make sure your pet's collar is secured with an ID tag, and we always recommend getting your pet micro-chipped. Opening that door for all those trick-or-treaters presents a prime opportunity for your tail-waggers to escape!
  • Consider leaving your pet at home, rather than taking them out trick or treating.  They get spooked just like us!  Set up a safe environment for them at home to prevent anxiety from all the spooky visitors.
  • Assure proper fit, comfort and safety for your pooches' costume.
  • Re-think those candles and hazardous decorations unless they are out of reach and in secure locations.

Is Your Kit Legit?

Aside from being required by law, pet license fees help aid in the return of hundreds of lost pets to their homes, every year.  Additionally, license fees support homeless pet adoption efforts to new families, supplement spay and neuter programs to reduce pet over-population, fund investigation and enforcement of animal neglect and cruelty.   Just a little bit goes a long way in protecting our pets and supporting local animal law enforcement and shelter operations.

It is easy and it is affordable- To find more information and license online, visit our website at www.metroanimalservices.org.
