Signage may seem like a far cry from saving a beleaguered beauty such as Old Main; however, increased knowledge of and engagement with the Soldiers Home by the community is an important step toward the greater end goal to rehabilitate the historic buildings in the Milwaukee Soldiers Home National Historic Landmark District.

Conserving the integrity of this incredible historic district and utilizing the buildings for future veteran services sustains the therapeutic principles under which the district was originally constructed-to heal body, mind and spirit through a holistic, recuperative landscape and daily care.

Your support of the Wayfinding and Awareness Campaign is vital to the success of MPA's work building awareness of this invaluable cultural asset and strengthening the effort to preserve the District for future generations of veterans.

**Due to a lack of awareness of the Soldiers Home, along with the VA's lack of funding for maintenance and repair, the Milwaukee Soldiers Home National Historic Landmark District is in diminishing condition.

Currently, four of the most remarkable historic buildings are vacant and in disrepair. Milwaukee Preservation Alliance is a local partner in the coalition of stakeholders working with the Milwaukee VA Medical Center to find a solution that will rehabilitate and conserve these buildings for future use in service to veterans.

Though we have made great strides, we still need to elevate the profile of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home. Local residents and visitors to Milwaukee MUST recognize its value and importance from a historical perspective and its future impact on veterans' care. The Milwaukee Soldiers Home is a significant place for Milwaukeeans and visitors to experience.
