Meet LVGH's New Assistant Director |
Join us in welcoming Shannon Houston, who started May 30th as our new Assistant Director.
When she's not fishing for dollars to help keep LVGH running smoothly, you might find Shannon fishing for striped bass on Long Island Sound.
Feel free to stop by her office to say hello the next time you're visiting LVGH! |
Express Your Ideas: Student Stories |
Each year, LVGH students publish a newsletter, "Express Your Ideas," to share their stories and practice writing in English.
A couple of excerpts from this year's edition:
"I love taking classes at LVGH... it gives me the confidence needed to obtain my GED and move ahead with my education." - Benedict Garsuah
"I arrived in the U.S. in 1983 as a refugee from South Vietnam... learning English and the customs of America was overwhelming. I attended several adult education schools, but it wasn't until I came to LVGH where I began to overcome my feeling of being overwhelmed." - Ann Lee

Volunteer Appreciation Reception
|
On Thursday, June 14th, we held a reception at Real Art Ways in recognition of the dedicated volunteers who make our work possible. We also celebrated 40 years of LVGH volunteers teaching English in the Greater Hartford community! Thank you, Volunteers!
