Faculty Dining Room, GSU

Lunch will be held for persons interested in the Order of Deacon in the United Methodist Church from 12:00 to 1:30 in the Faculty Dining Room. This will be an opportunity for potential Deacon candidates to meet with our new Deacon Liaison, Erika Stalcup. The Deacon Liaison role is supported by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and provides an additional resource person for Deacon candidates in UM seminaries. We will have time to connect with one another and discuss ways in which Erika can be helpful and supportive for potential Deacons at BU School of Theology.

Please RSVP to Lisa Case (lcase@bu.edu; 617-353-3038) in the Contextual Education office by Friday, January 25 if you would like to attend. If you have questions, please contact Wanda Stahl (wstahl@bu.edu ; 617-353-9699).

Choir festival

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

7:00 - 8:00 pm

Marsh Chapel

The theme of the World Interfaith Harmony Week is in recognition of the pioneering work of The Common Word Initiative. This initiative, which started in 2007, called for Muslim and Christian leaders to engage in a dialogue based on two common fundamental religious Commandments: Love of God, and Love of the Neighbor, without nevertheless compromising any of their own religious tenets.

You are invited to a weekend Sabbath of rest and renewal. We look forward to enjoying the company of spirited STH community, reconnecting with our own spiritual centers, and exploring themes generated by our "Tree of Life" theme.  There will be large group gatherings, small group discussions, good food, great fellowship, and free time for naps or study or winter walks.  We can accommodate 30 on our retreat; please register no later than February 7th by submitting the Registration Form, with payment. Just $25 for students, $50 for faculty/staff/admins, and $75 for spouse/partners.

Our Retreat has been planned by several STH masters and doctoral students in connection with the Spiritual Life Office.  Our "Tree of Life" theme is inspired by our Muelder Chapel banner and the beautiful artwork of Rev. Jan Richardson, United Methodist clergywoman, artist, author;   Come, walk a labyrinth, climb a tree, learn a new spiritual practice or two, make new friends, and luxuriate in this gift of Sabbath space.
