Deep Listening - Healing Communities

We are excited to introduce our latest project, Open Doorsthat we developed in response to the hate and division in our current political climate. Open Doors gives organizers and community members the training and tools they need to listen deeply, build relationships, communicate across differences and begin to heal.

Open Doors utilizes YOB's signature Action & Support model and aims to:
  1. Cultivate Upstanders
  2. Sustain Movement Builders
  3. Engage Communities in Dialogue and Action

Thus far, Open Doors is generously supported by the Open Society Foundation with additional funding from the Burgess Urban Fund, and Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing (FCYO). Over the next few weeks, expect to see more from us around this exciting new project including ways to get involved.

Climate team holds
idling action

Young people spoke with local drivers about the myths and facts of car pollution and ways to save gas. They passed out fliers and bumper stickers while explaining that idling cars contribute to air pollution and don't save any gas.

High School Students go to Statehouse, Governor Baker signs letter supporting Paris Climate Deal

Less than two years ago, youth organizers from Youth on Board and BSAC went to Paris to join with thousands of people from across the globe to raise their voices for swift, significant action from the United Nations on climate change. The Paris Climate Agreement, which was signed by 195 countries and outlines targets for reducing carbon emissions, came out of that effort but the new administration has threatened to pull out.

A delegation of BSAC members joined the Alliance for Climate Education's (ACE) action at the MA Statehouse on May 17th urging Governor Baker to sign a letter urging the US to stay in the agreement. Mere hours before they were set to arrive, Baker co-signed a letter with Philip Scott, Republican Governor of Vermont, urging Energy Secretary Rick Perry to uphold the agreement. As 350 MA said on their facebook post #notacoincidence.
