BPS Student Activists receive the
President's Award from the
Massachusetts Teachers Association
We are proud to announce that Barbara Madeloni, president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA), honored student activists with the President's Award at the 2016 convention.
Fania Joseph, a sophomore at Boston Community Leadership Academy, accepted an award on behalf of BPS student organizers, including Gabi Perreira, Trinity Kelly, and Anthony Englert pictured above.
BSAC's own Fania Joseph addressed thousands of delegates at the convention, talking about how Boston Public School students organized themselves to fight for adequate funding for their education.
Madeloni praised the young activists. "Students have been central to many social movements in this country," she said, adding that she was inspired by "their courage, imagination and persistence."
Congratulations to ALL the young people in Boston, Massachusetts, and across the country for fighting for equal access to high quality education.
Sincerely,
Youth on Board and BSAC
