Students Deserve a Vote
on School Committee
____________________________________________________________________________
BSAC met with Boston's Mayor Marty Walsh this week to discuss several campaigns we are working on in the city. BSAC members talked about the Student Vote hearing hosted by City Councillor Tito Jackson where several students and adult allies testified on why a student should have voting powers on the school committee. We are waiting to hear about next steps in the process, but we are hopeful this nine year campaign will become a reality.
Mayor Walsh and BSAC members also discussed student input in teacher evaluation, My Brother's Keeper, and our campaign working towards a moratorium on out of school suspensions.
We are pleased to have had such a successful first meeting with the Mayor and look forward to many more!
Thank you Tito Jackson & Mayor Walsh!
