BSAC in the Globe!
Years of hard work pay off -
Ensuring restorative justice practices in Boston and the Nation

BSAC student representative to the Boston School Committee Ayomide Olumuyiwa was featured in a Boston Globe article. The article, which addresses new regulations in Massachusetts that will limit suspensions, features quotes from organizations on the Code of Conduct Advisory Council (COCAC). COCAC members include Boston Parent Organizing Network (BPON) and MA Advocates for Children (MAC) and worked collaboratively to revamp the BPS Code of Conduct.
In the article, Ayo expressed his belief that students should not be suspended for minor offenses. When asked what the possible benefits of suspensions could be, Olumuyiwa responded, ''What are students going to be doing for that one week? They will be watching TV, playing video games, or going out on the streets and getting themselves into trouble.''
