Greetings! ,

On May 9, in collaboration with American Federation of Teachers, the Opportunity to Learn Campaign, and Anthos Media, Youth on Board co-hosted the Washington D.C. premiere of The New Public, a documentary film that follows four years of a public high school in Brooklyn, NY.

The screening brought out dozens of education advocates, educators, policy makers, and students.  An inspiring Q and A followed about the importance of providing teachers with the space to build strong relationships with students and each other, having students and teachers provide input into education reform and decision making, and ensuring that policy makers have a true understanding of what it means to be in an urban public school in this country.

Thank you to all who came to the film and please let us know if you would like to learn more.

Sincerely,

Youth on Board
