Dear
Greetings!

For the past several years BSAC has worked tirelessly to develop and campaign for numerous policies that support and improve student rights in the Boston Public Schools. BSAC is promoting 12 policies through a district-wide, school-based campaign.

This campaign increases student engagement and raises awareness around specific policies that impact students directly and work towards improving school culture.

BSAC students have had ongoing conversations with BPS to figure out how to capture information on grievances.  As a result, BSAC has developed a grievance procedure and form (click to view) for students who feel their rights have been violated.  BSAC will share this information with BPS and the Code of Conduct Advisory Council to inform future practices.

We all have a responsibility to work together to improve school climate and culture. The school-based campaign represents one way that students can take ownership of their education. It is their responsibility to become aware, knowledgeable and be responsible for their actions as well.

TechBoston Academy: Civics teacher Bruce Pontrbriand merged the Month of Action with the Students Rights and Responsibilities curriculum, making it a graded project for his Civics in Action class.

Boston International High School
Student Government planned the activities for their school, and Audrey Ngankam, BSAC Representative is using the Month of Action as the topic of her Capstone Project. The Head of the History Department plans to incorporate student rights into his lessons and will share these materials with other teachers.
