Greetings!
As I began this year, I set my intention in identifying new ways to serve the caregiver community at-large by creating unique opportunities for support and success. In the true spirit of spring, the seeds of ideas planted in the winter have blossomed into rich and exciting fruit that is ready to be shared with our community.
I am deeply saddened, by the two recent new reports about caregivers who reached such despair in their journey, that they turned to murdering their loved ones as a final tragic turn. In many cases, caregivers suffer silently and do not have an easy-to-reach forum for support and discussion. My thoughts and condolences go out to the families who have been impacted by such a devastating experience. At a time when the challenges and stresses that caregivers face continue to escalate, it is important to bring more awareness to the challenges that so many caregivers face. I am collaborating with Colleen Sweeney, creator of the Patient Empathy Project, to launch The Caregiver Empathy Project which will bring to light the most common fears and concerns of potential and current caregivers so that we can discuss and understand these challenges before it is too late.
Another resource that is taking root within the scope of my efforts is The Caregiver Help Line. My vision for the Help Line is to empower caregivers with relevant resources to keep them from feeling isolation or helplessness as they care for a loved one. In closing, I would like to welcome Connie Minisci to my support team. I look forward to working with her on so many of the exciting projects that are about to take wing.
How is your year going? I'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to share what you need, so that I can continue to evolve and create resources that support you as a caregiver. You can call me at 727-798-2663 or email me at kim@thecaregiverhour.com

Three Tricks to Keeping Your Nutrition On Track
A guide for caregivers who are "too busy" to eat right
Being a caregiver requires that you spend a good deal of time tending to the needs of your loved one or patient. It is not uncommon for us as caregivers to forego our own interests for the needs and benefit of the person we are caring for. Many caregivers may opt for fast-food or worse yet, no food, as the demands of the daily responsibilities wear on. Sadly, self-neglect at a nutritional level simply increases your risk of health problems.
The following are a few tips to make sure that your daily caregiving routine does not circumvent your own needs for healthy eating. [Click here to read the full blog...] |
