Man is the only creature who has been given the creative instrument of speaking words. It is one of the great attributes that God gave man when he made him in his own image. We not only have the ability to speak words, we also have the right to speak God's word. We can say what God says. This is something no other creature has the ability to do. It is through the creative power of the tongue that we can step back into a divine position as God's mighty ones. We have the ability in Christ to bring order into their surroundings and use the counsel of God's word to restore what was broken, ending a life of futility and insignificance.

THE POWER OF WORDS

Repairing the Course of our Lives

"How forcible are right words!" - Job 5:25

The Greek word for "confess" is HOMOLOGIA. Homo means the same while logos means to speak. This is why we refer to confession as "saying the same thing."   What we declare or speak with our mouths should line up with God's Word. Words were meant to be a force for change, and the greatest way to change anything is to speak with the inspiration of the word of God. Paul wrote in his letter to Philemon: "That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus" (Philemon 6).

As we learn how to speak right words our tongue will serve the purposes of righteousness and its operation will come into agreement with the order of heaven. Not everything we say is going to come to pass automatically, but everything we say in faith will come to pass if we hold fast our confession.

The very idea that God "framed" the worlds by his word means that he built and designed it to serve his purpose. One might think that the word "framed" suggests building something from scratch, but the actually meaning is a term used for repairing or restoring something back to its original order. It literally means to mend, to repair, to adjust or to make sound. The creative power of God's word took the world that once was and had been broken down (Jeremiah 4:23-26), and repaired it back to a suitable condition to where it could sustain life. We now have the right to speak God's word as part of our confession for the purpose of mending, repairing, and restoring our lives back to the original order that we were made from the beginning.

According to Psalm eighty-two, God reprimand those who were called to be mighty ones, who lost the revelation or understanding that they were to be as gods in the earth. They carried the counsel of God, and held the power of his word in their hands, but because of sin they no longer functioned as such, and as a result, caused the very foundations of the earth to spin out of course. Notice how this reads: "God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods...They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I have said, ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High; but ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes" (Psalm 82:1, 5-7)

What the Psalmist is describing here is how God spoke his rightness into a world while it was in its reconstruction process, and repaired it after falling into a state of being void and without form. He made man to be a mighty race on the earth. He was to rule this earth with sovereign capabilities because he was created as a child of the most High God! Even after the fall, he raised up judges and kings to declare the rule of heaven, but because of a darkened intellect they could not understand the true purposes of God, and so they walked on in darkness (destitute because of sin), and all the foundations of the earth fell out of course, or we could say, they were shaken, dislodged, overthrown, and slipped out of man's hand.

Here is what we must learn about faith! We know God used words to create. We also know that by our being created in his image we now have the ability through faith to speak order back into our surrounding. We may not be able to fix everything that sin has infected, but we can certainly fix the environment that surrounds our lives, because we have been delivered from sin and made to be the righteousness of God in Christ! James said an "unruly tongue" set on fire the course of nature, implying it is what creates havoc and instability around us. If that is true, then surely "a righteous tongue" has the power to bring everything back into divine order!

The King James Bible uses the phrase, "course of nature," but the literal translation in the Greek means "the wheel of genesis." The Greek word for "course" is TROCHOS being defined as a wheel. "Nature" is the Greek word GENESIS, which can be easily understood as the origin of a thing or its beginning. We can use our tongue to reconstruct our lives so that they can come into conformity to all that God has for us. We can begin the process of repairing, adjusting, and mending our world by simply saying what God says, agreeing with his design and purpose for our lives, and most importantly, to use the power of words to reestablish our sovereign capabilities as children of the Most High God!

PRAYER

Father, today I choose to put a watch over my tongue. I purpose to say only what agrees with your word.

May your Holy Spirit check me so that I do not fall back into old patterns of saying things my heart does not agree with or words that are not faith filled words. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

CONFESSION

I will say only what God says. My mouth will not be used to speak idle words, negative words, or words that are not filled with faith. I am determined to mend and repair everything around me with words that are in line with God's will and purpose for my life.

DEFINING MOMENTS...

So often we tend to vacillate with what we say. One minute we speak positive and the next minute we negate what we say with words that are negative or words that disagree with what we have already spoken. This is how the enemy has worked to minimize the creative power of the tongue.

One thing we know for certain and that is the word of God is full of life. It contains the very forces of heaven, and when we come into alignment with his word and purpose saying only what he says, then that life will impact everything around us. But the key this is: WE MUST DEVELOP A CONSISTENCY IN SAYING ONLY RIGHT WORDS, WORDS WITH PURPOSE, AND WORDS FILLED WITH FAITH AND INTEGRITY!!!

In His Grace,
