Greetings!

Man was created with God's honor upon him.  It was never in his heart for man to live without it.  Sin disrupted that honor, but God has restored to us what we lost in the fall. There is a way to walk under the honor of heaven.  We can make our life kingdom worthy by simply living a life of honor.  In other words, treating people with respect, esteeming the precious things in life as valuable, and regarding what God has given to us all as a prized possession.  The moment we learn to honor what God honors then we will experience the power of a full and prosperous life!

A LIFE OF HONOR

MAKING YOUR LIFE KINGDOM WORTHY

"But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor and some to dishonor."

2 Timothy 2:20

One of the very first commandments given in the Word of God concerning a life of honor holds with it the promise of long life.  According to Exodus chapter twenty, we find these words: "Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee" (Exo. 20:12).  How many people actually equate living a long life to honoring their parents?  Folks do everything they can to try to preserve life, and yet never think twice about God's method of how to achieve such a desire.  If you want things to be well with you-if you want to see good days-then remember: "Honoring the people that gave you life, will cause your life to carry the honor of God."  This is such an important part in how to make your life kingdom worthy.  Paul reminded the Christians in Ephesus: "Children, obey your parents in the Lord; for this right. Honor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth" (Eph. 5:1-3).

There is something about honoring people in your life, especially your parents (which also applies to your spiritual parents-those who have imparted into you the Word of life), that God has given his assurance to you that things will go well for you and that you will experience the blessings of a long and prosperous life.  There are specific ways that God wants to bless his people, and one of those ways is through honor.  Paul told young Timothy, "...there are vessels to honor and some to dishonor" (2 Tim. 2:20). The word "honor" refers to living a life worthy of the Lord.  In other words, God chose to make you his house.  You are the temple of the living God.  It is now expected of you to honor his presence by becoming a partaker of his divine nature.  Your whole life is to be lived out of his life. You are to do things the way he would do them. You are to love, value, and respect what he puts in you and around you-people, position, giftings, talents, even learning to esteem the sacred things he has entrusted to you.

If you will make it a point to live a life of honoring what God honors, then honor will come upon you. We can see this very easily in the life of Christ.  Peter wrote in his epistle concerning the Lord: "To whom coming as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God and precious" (1 Pet. 2:4).  The Greek word for "precious" comes from the same root word TIMĘ, which is also used for honor.  It means to hold someone dear; to value them highly.  Later, in verse seven, he uses TIMĘ for the word precious: "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious..." (1 Pet. 2:7).  If there was anyone who lived his life worthy of the kingdom, it was Christ.  We as believers are to live our lives worthy of the kingdom by becoming a person of honor.  That's why Paul said, "Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision to the flesh, to fulfill the lust thereof" (Rom. 13:14).  When you put on Christ, you are putting on a life of honor, because he has been highly exalted.  There is no higher honor than to let Christ live his life through you.

If you want to make your life kingdom worthy-if you want the honor of God to rest upon you, then honor what God has honored you with.  Honor his life in you.  Honor the people he has put in your life.  Honor your pastor.  Honor your parents.  Honor the grace that he has bestowed upon you to do the things he has equipped you and enabled you to do.  If you will live a life of honor, you will never be without it.

PRAYER

Father, today I choose to honor the people you have put into my life.  I will esteem them highly in love.  I will make it a point to see the value they are to me.  I bring them before you now and ask you to bless them and make them a greater blessing than ever before. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
CONFESSION

I will make honor an important part of my life.  I will live honorably.  I will act honorably.  I will bestow honor upon those whom honor is due.  I will treat the holy things of God as precious.  I will esteem those who have helped to make me the person I am with much honor.  I will live a life that is kingdom worthy.

DEFINING MOMENTS...

When God created man, the first thing he did was honor him with regal authority. He crowned him with dignity, bestowing upon him his own glory and honor.
When Jesus arose, he appeared to his disciples and said, "All power has been given to me both in heaven and in earth" (Matt. 28:18).He then commissioned the church to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.  Literally, this meant that the same honor of regal authority that was bestowed upon him has now been transferred to the church.  It is our right of influence because of God honoring the work of Christ and our willingness to surrender to his Lordship.  As believers, we now have the right to his name, his blood, even the same regal authority he obtained, all because we are his chosen ones.

If you will make living an honorable life a priority in everything you do, then that which has been bestowed upon him will come upon you, and you will carry the honor of heaven.

In His Grace,
