The July 16 Networker will be celebrating the Grand Opening of the newest Winn Dixie Wine & Spirits store with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor Mayra P. Lyndsay.  The event will include live entertainment and light bites from the Key Biscayne Winn-Dixie store's prepared foods department. Ribbon Cutting:6 p.m. Wine & Spirits Sampling:5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

  Enjoy networking, lunch, ship tour & tourism inside news for a $10 donation to St. Jude Research Hospital. The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce has  graciously extended an invitation to a fun function they are holding on the Carnival Victory, August 17. Prior to lunch and a tour of the ship, guests will be able to participate in a panel discussion with leading tourism and hospitality executives about recent trends and advancements in the industry.  The cost is a $10 donation to St. Jude Research Hospital.

Reservations are due by July 31 to guarantee a spot.  A state id, passport, or drivers license is required along with your date of birth in order to board. Payment is required prior to the event and not accepted at the door.

CPR-AED

The Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Department is offering the American Safety & Health Institute CPR-AED Full 4 Hour Certification Training Course at the KB Fire Station. (CPR-AED: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Automated External Defibrillator).

 IT'S HURRICANE SEASON - BE PREPARED
NOAA has predicted a less active season this year but it doesn't mean it's time to let our guard down.  Here are some suggestions for preparation.

You don't need an expensive disaster plan, just a thoughtful one that includes:

  • A hard-wired telephone
  • A solid contact list . Include employees, emergency phone numbers (i.e. utility companies, hospitals, etc) and one of your key vendors and suppliers. Include phone numbers of licensed contractors, electricians, plumbers and roofers that you might need.
  • Institute a clear process on how you will contact your employees
  • Organize Supplies- have cash, generators, batteries, water, first aid, ability to charge cell phones, etc.
  • PROTECT YOUR DATA....take a copy of your data with you or backup on the internet
  • Store copies of key forms and documents you use day-to-day at a safe location- including insurance documents and daily business forms
  • Test your plan- without testing, plans can fail

COULD INTERNATIONAL MAKET TRENDS  BE AFFECTING YOUR BUSINESS? 
The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau held a Marketing Retreat with the Keynote speaker from Brand USA, the government agency chartered with promoting tourism to the United States. Did you know that the Brazilian Real is 40% weaker against the dollar than last year at this time, which has resulted in a decrease in Brazilian tourists this summer? Colombia is also experiencing the effects of a stronger US dollar. Carroll Rheems, V P of  Research & Analytics presented International Market Trends and shared the predictions and analytics of American tourism, which is 32 pages worth viewing, especially if you are taking into account tourism  dollars when formulating your 2016 budget.
