100 issues of "Roots"
| Shavei Israel Chairman Michael Freund and Bnei Menashe children |
This issue of Shavei Israel's "Roots" represents an important milestone - it's the hundredth newsletter we've produced since we started sending them to you more than three years ago.
We hope that you have enjoyed the many articles, profiles, pictures and videos we've shared - never fear: we have no intention of stopping!
But milestones are always a good opportunity to reflect. So we've put together a list of what you've told us (through your feedback on Facebook and via email) were the most significant or meaningful stories we've published. We've divided them by the main communities we serve.

Shavei Israel profile: Fabian Spagnoli - a question of identity leads home to Israel
|
Fabian Spagnoli
|
Fabian Spagnoli doesn't know why the man in the small shop in Spain said it. Spagnoli had gone in to buy a new blanket for his bed. Instead, the man looked at him and told him straight out, "You are a Jew." Spagnoli and the shopkeeper got to talking and the two became fast friends.
Whatever the reason, the result of this "chance" encounter has been life changing for Spagnoli, who earlier this year moved to Israel with his wife and 10-year-old daughter. Spagnoli, 50, is now exploring his roots as a Bnei Anousim.
