Shavei Israel dental students need your help

Yael Hangshing
Yael Hangshing

Yael Hangshing comes to our interview direct from her job as a dental assistant in a Jerusalem clinic. Her journey is an inspiring one: through remarkable determination, she has pulled herself up, arriving in Israel as a Bnei Menashe immigrant with her family at the sensitive age of only 12, to today where she has established a successful career as a professional in Israel.

Yael now wants to take her career to the next level and to train to become a full-fledged dental hygienist at Hadassah Hospital's prestigious dental school. She has turned to us for help.

Ilana Spaporker

Ilana Shaporker has also enrolled in the Hadassah dental program. She and her husband made aliyah from India in 2010 and now she, like Yael, is seeking our assistance to finance her dental dreams at Hadassah.

Yael and Ilana are just two of the eleven students Shavei Israel is helping prepare for a new career as dental assistants or hygienists.

Last week, as Palestinian rockets rained down on Israel, Shavei Israel Chairman Michael Freund made his way south to the city of Sderot - the small beleaguered community that has borne the brunt of the rockets that have been fired from the Gaza Strip.

His goal was to visit a courageous group of Bnei Menashe immigrants from India who settled there in recent years, in order to provide them with moral support during this very difficult time for the Jewish state. Of the 1,700 Bnei Menashe currently living in Israel, 82 are in Sderot: 16 families and five singles.
