"Some of you may remember Cindy as she was a P2P Coordinator in Skagit for many years. Thank you Cindy for all you do."

P2P Volunteer Helping Parent of the Month:
Cindy Hubert, Skagit P2P

(Susan Atkins, Cindy Hubert & Heather Milliren)

I have the honor and privilege to highlight a truly beautiful friend and former P2P colleague--Cindy Hubert. Cindy connected with Skagit P2P when her second child entered early intervention services nearly 28 years ago. At that time, Skagit P2P was a small support network of parents simply trying to navigate the disability world. Cindy then added two more children to her family, all of whom have disabilities.  Cindy is married to her wonderful soul mate, Bruce, of 36 years.

Cindy eventually took on the enormous task as Skagit County Lead Family Resource Coordinator in February 2000 until March 2011. One month later she added the hat of Skagit P2P Coordinator for one year before shifting to Assistant Coordinator until May 2012. Cindy was a tireless advocate on behalf of families of children with complex health care needs and developmental disabilities. Her own firsthand experience raising four children laid the groundwork for systems navigation, changes in effective statewide practices for those with ASD and other diagnoses, and most importantly, compassion and support for parents.

In the past five years Cindy and her sons have progressed with ongoing health needs of their own. Selflessly, she continues to support other families even during her own challenging health crises. As she is able to, Cindy is there to provide support, encouragement and a wealth of resources to families experiencing the unexpected journey of special needs.

I had the privilege to work alongside this remarkable, kind woman for nearly 10 years. Together we've grown close as friends.  I treasured the opportunity to work with Cindy.  And, look forward to many more years of friendship.

"I thank my God every time I remember you." Philippians 1:3
