"When our journey began, nearly 11 years ago, we had no idea how much our lives would be turned upside down. When our Zoe Rose was given the diagnosis of Down syndrome at birth, we were at a loss as to where to turn, where to go, or even what happens next? Through networking and researching, we found that many families went through the same loss and confusion. We started The Zoe Foundation in 2005, assembling and distributing Zoe Parenting Kits to newly diagnosed families all over the country, with a main focus in the Puget Sound area. Nearly 250 Zoe Parenting Kits have been distributed to families that were in need of up to date resources and information, just like we would have wanted all those years ago. The most important piece in the "Kit" would be the congratulations letter, from one parent to another. Sometimes you just need to hear that you are not alone, your baby is just a baby that wants to be loved like any other baby, and the journey maybe scary but it is filled with joys you never dreamed of." www.zoefoundation.org |
