"Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."

- Mother Teresa

clasped-hands-sky.jpg THANKS TO YOU - Volunteer Helping Parent Tammy Langford from Thurston/Mason County - nominated by Sylvia Davenport P2P Coordinator! "Tammy has been volunteering as a Helping Parent for the last 4 years. She has a child with Autism who is 4 and a 5 year old with Down Syndrome they are adopting. Tammy has never said no to a Helping Parent match and is also so helpful in navigating insurance company issues. Her matches  usually turn into long friendships because she is so sweet and knowledgeable. She has never missed a training and believes in our Parent to Parent mission."

YAYYYY Tammy and Thank you.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month- so in honor of all those lucky enough to be born

with Down Syndrome and those families, like us, that are lucky enough to have someone, like our Alexa, with Down Syndrome - who is "Awesome" - born into their family - help me celebrate them by attending a D/S Walk in your area!

Also check out the DS Group in Portland who has started an Inclusion Model Kindergarten training called All Born In. Great stories and ideas to help include all kids in our schools.

Happy fall,

Susan

"A major component of helping people is just showing up. The most important thing to say is in your actions as well as your words. It lets that person know that you're not giving up. It shows that you're there for them."
