With the beginning of a new fraternal year comes the planning for our service programs. This is our opportunity to be visible within our community while involving our youth and families. Many positions are open and looking for an individual to help coordinate activities. The "Programs Director" position is open and performs the overall timing communication with our council. This is where we begin the involvement and order materials for our poster contest, essay contest, soccer challenge and free throw contest. Please contact your Grand Knight or any of the officers if you are interested or need further information.

As the sun sets on my term as your Grand Knight, I wonder where the time has gone. It has been a wonderful opportunity to serve you and I look forward to the council's growth. What I have been able to accomplish for the council is due to the support of a team of great officers and members like you. Thank you.

The next General Meeting of Council #3414 - 7th Jul (Tue) 7:00PM (at the Hall). This will be the installation of officers with families welcome. Since this will be an open meeting, regular business will not be conducted. Those arriving by 6:45 pm wishing to join in the prayer of the Rosary, please assembly by the statue of Mary outside.

If you have any questions at all or would like further information, please see me. I can also be reached via email at gusbannick@yahoo.com .

Thank you,

Long-Term Care Plans Offer Peace of Mind

Since its addition to the Order's product portfolio in 2000, long-term care (LTC) insurance has provided the Knights of Columbus with an excellent opportunity to further serve members and their families. And, for our long-term care policy holders in the United States, there's an added bonus.

It's called "Provider Pathway," a program offering access to a network of long-term care providers at discounted rates. The network includes discounts on products, such as hearing aids, diabetic supplies, personal emergency response systems, and durable medical equipment, as well as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living, and adult day care.

Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of Columbus long-term care insurance policyholders, their spouses, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements.

If you haven't yet spoken with me about long-term care insurance, you owe it to yourself to do so. There are a few decisions to make in choosing a "plan" - a comprehensive plan that covers care whether you're at home or in a facility, or one that covers facility only; daily benefit amounts and benefit durations (how much and how long it will last); and the length of the elimination period (waiting period) before benefits kick-in.

Having a professionally trained agent and a brother Knight you can trust  to help guide you through the process is yet another valuable benefit that comes with your membership. Take advantage of it; contact me today.

Tri-County Activities (TCA) Inc
TCA Inc bylaws state that we shall have a corporation wide meeting in July of each year.  All members of the corporation (all council members in good standing) are invited to attend and vote for open positions of the board of directors.  The board also normally meets immediately following the voting in order to elect officers and conduct one of the four mandated quarterly board meetings.

We will have to be creative this time because the officer installation for the council and ladies auxiliary will be occurring on the same night.  Please come to the meeting of the corporation so that new board members can be nominated and voted into office.  Plans right now are to have the installation occur and the snacks be served then proceed with the corporation meeting.  The corporation meeting can be attended by the public so we will not have to clear the council hall in order to conduct the meeting. Of course only members of the council can vote when the elections occur.

The board consists of 15 members , 2 immediate past grand knights and the current grand knight, plus 12 at large members from the council membership who have been a member at least one year.

At present the at-large members board members are :
Ernie Anson, Dan Bacon, Lee Fox, Fred O'Halloran, Alan King, Paul Bates, Ben Volker, and Milton Wallace.

The board members whose term of office expires on June 30 2015 are Tim Laird, Len Kuklenski, Mark Tomes and Steve Roth.

Financial Secretary Report

At our regular council meetings, monthly first profits from our Bingo operations are allocated to food pantries, social service agencies and need based scholarships for St Pius Catholic High School students.

If additional money is available, other organizations receive financial support.

Annually, the council supports seminarians from the Kansas City-St Joseph diocese. At the May 23 ordination of seven new priests, four were supported by Council 3414 during their formation. These include Matthew Barlett, Ryan Koster, Gabriel Lickteig and Curt Vogel. These new priests are now assigned to local parishes.

This year we are supporting Sr Mary Gemma OP, a Sacred Heart Novitiate, and Andrew McKellar, a seminarian at St Gregory's in Seward Nebraska.

The council cannot make these worthwhile contributions without your help at bingo.
