Grand Knight's Report

Email Grand Knight

Brother Knights,

Our new fraternal year is in full swing and there is plenty to fill any time you have available, just contact an officer.

Gladfest is around the corner which also begins our tootsie roll drive. The parade event will take place 4th Oct so mark you calendars. We will need individuals to pull the parade entry along with Honor Guard members, members for the wagon and walkers to assist with the tootsie roll distribution. Please let Fred know if you can join us.

The Essay Contest for the Knights of Columbus will begin shortly. The theme this year is "The Importance of Religious Freedom". The students write their essay during Sep and Oct with judging by our council in Nov. Please contact Steve Wiederholt for more information.

The Soccer Challenge has similar timing with the essay contest, running through Sep and Oct. Please contact Steve Wiederholt if you can assist us.

We are continuing to seek individuals to fill some open positions. If you have time and a passion for helping others, or need additional information, please contact any of our officers.

Our council is celebrating corporate communion this Sunday, 31st Aug for the 8:00 am mass at St. Gabriel. Come join us with you family and stay for a light gathering after mass. Coffee, juice and doughnuts will be served.

This month's meeting of the Assembly will be the 28th Aug at Fr. Hagar Council. The prayer of the Rosary begins at 7:15 pm with the general meeting starting at 07:30 pm.

Community Activities
Summer is almost over, which means the fall isn't too far away and as everyone knows, that means the Gladfest Parade.  Mark your calendars for Saturday October 4th for the 2014 Gladfest Parade. Each year we hope to increase the size of our entry in order to demonstrate to the Northland; our commitment to our Church, Council, Community and to show off our Knights of Columbus Spirit. Saturday October 4th in the morning (more specifics will be available as we get closer to parade day), we can use you.  We are in need of walkers, riders as well as Honor Guard.  As we have in the past several parades, we will have wagon with us if you would prefer to ride along.  Hone up your throwing skills as you toss the Tootsie Rolls into the crowd. Invite your family members to walk with us.  Please mark the date on your calendar

KC/ St Joe Cathedral at NightChurch Activities
We have a Corporate Communion this Sunday August 31st at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.  This will be at the 8:00 AM mass.

The date is Sunday September 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.

If you signed up to help please be sure to come.  If you didn't sign up we will still need to some members and wives to help chaperone and clean up afterwards.

Please come up and show your appreciation for all of our youth who serve at the Altar of the Lord.

Our Guarantees Set Us Apart

Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can - guarantees. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you. That's peace of mind, and that's what we offer with our every product in our portfolio.

We guarantee the cash value in your whole life policies will be there.

We guarantee the rates on your term insurance.

We guarantee our retirement products will provide a stream of income when you need it.

On top of those product guarantees, I guarantee that I will offer professional, high-quality service that you would expect from our organization.

Our Order is among the highest rated life insurers in North America. AM Best has rated the Knights of Columbus "A++, Superior" for 38 consecutive years. It's a testament to our track record for excellence and security.

I would suggest that a principal reason that we were able to achieve those accolades is because we remain steadfastly committed to the vision of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney by providing life insurance by brother Knights for brother Knights.

That commitment is an essential core value of the Knights of Columbus, and our core values permeate all levels of our organization. We pledge to serve our brother Knights, and their families, according to our Golden Rule: "In all my professional relationships, I pledge myself to the following rule of conduct: I shall, in light of all conditions surrounding those I serve, render that service which, under the same circumstances, I would apply to myself."

Let's talk soon to discuss how our products can bring that peace of mind to you and your family.

Tri-County Activities (TCA) Inc
By the time you read this we will be using a central monitoring service for our alarm system.  We thought it would be good to inform the membership of the alarm response plan.

When an alarm is triggered the alarm company will call the main hall phone number.
  • If someone answers they will ask that person for the password.  If the correct password is given they will turn off the alarm and everything returns to normal.
  • If no one answers or the wrong password is given then the company will call one of our six response team members.
  • The response team member will use the camera system and other information to decide whether the police will be called.
  • If there is any question our response will be to call the police since we don't want any member to take unnecessary risks.
This plan relies upon the cameras to prevent us from calling the police on false alarms.  The video feeds do not go to the alarm company.  They are only available to persons on our response team and our hall rental managers.

We want to emphasize that the cameras are not monitoring the members.  The video feeds are only viewed in the following circumstances:

  1. During a rental event.
  2. During an alarm triggered event.
  3. To test and maintain the feeds.

By sharing this plan with you we hope we have put to rest any concerns that you may have about cameras and our alarm system.
