Hello Finnigans, Goodbye Fantasyland
After more than ten years are Fantasyland we now embark upon a new bingo location with tons of excitement and anticipation.

We have never conducted our games at such a nice facility for our patrons as the new bingo hall.  The potential is very high for increased attendance.  So much so that we are concerned that our staffing may fall short.

We are asking every brother Knight in the council to try to work on a bingo team.  If you cannot attend for the entire session we have added some positions that may only be needed from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.  And those positions are seated.

Since the great recession hit every month we have never failed to donate to the St. Charles and St. Gabriel Food Pantries as well as The Bishop Sullivan Center and the Benedictine Sisters Food Pantry.  You can be very proud of your council for doing this.  If we are to continue and perhaps increase our charitable work we need help at bingo.  Please email me and say you will work one night a month.

Only Having Insurance"Through Work" Doesn't Work

Do you know anyone whose life or career has drastically changed during these years of economic downturn? It's very likely that someone in your immediate or extended family or group of friends is facing financial uncertainty. Maybe there's a possibility that you (or your spouse) could lose your job or change employers.

Too many people have often relied on group term life insurance as their only safety net. Often, this insurance is an employee benefit provided at low or no cost. The existence of this coverage might convince someone that personally-owned life insurance is not necessary.

But only having "through work" insurance can leave you and your family vulnerable. Most group life insurance policies are limited in amount, which may be tied to salary or some other benchmark. These numbers are often capped, and this cap may be dangerously low when compared to your family's actual needs. In fact, a detailed needs analysis that evaluates your specific situation, will likely show that any employer-provided coverage falls short.

In addition, the amount of group insurance offered is almost always reduced, sometimes dramatically, when you retire. You could one day find yourself without coverage, and if your health has changed (which it will as you age), you might also find yourself unable to secure individual protection. At the very least, it will definitely be more expensive.

While group life insurance can help, it does not replace the need for individually owned life insurance. I'll be happy to meet with you and provide a no-cost needs analysis, so you'll know exactly where you stand.

The hall security system is now operational.  Anyone entering the hall will need to disarm the alarm.  Of course when you leave please arm the system.

A word from the Ladies

ril showers bring May flowers, but it doesn't help when you want to hide eggs.  We got plenty of rain for the Knight's Childrens' Easter Party on  April 13th.  But, the egg hunt went on in the hall.  The children had a great time making crafts and having an egg race.  "Thank you " to everyone (especially our Easter Bunny) for making the party a success.  A big "thank you " goes to the St. Charles Fish Fry for donating their leftover cookies and cupcakes.

I would like some volunteers to help me with straightening up the attic.  The craft boxes need to be organized and I need to take inventory of the toys and other party supplies.  I haven't chosen a date at this time, but it will be before the hot weather gets here. If you are interested in helping please call me at 734-2382.

Our meeting times has been changed back to our original third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  I hope all the ladies can attend the meetings.  Since, graduations are starting in May, I thought it would be fun for all the ladies to bring their high school graduation pictures to  our next meeting.  We will place the pictures on a table and then see if we can recognize the graduate.  I hope you can all participate, it should be fun!

The nominating committee has picked their slate of officers for the 2014-2015 term of office. They are:
