Social Media

The council has been discussing the need to be more involved in social media.  We are looking to have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and other accounts.

Younger members we need your help.  Is there someone out there who will step up and be our social media post / tweet guy?  We'll even give you a title of Social Media Director if you are into that sort of thing.

Programs and Services

* Church - Addressing the needs of the Church

You may have read in the St. Charles bulletin that a renovation project for the school is underway. If you may have ideas our council can do to support the raising of funds for this project, get in touch with us.

* Community - Shaping the world around us
One of the toys we are working on for this year's distribution is a doll with cradle. We would like to duplicate our working model shown below but are lacking the material shown by the
green arrows.

¾ birch or maple plywood. If you have contacts for scrap material, a cheap source or wish to make a donation please contact us.

One of Supreme's featured programs in this area is Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness one family at a time. The organization assists in providing quality-built, affordable homes to needy families by cooperatively involving the future homeowner with community volunteers and suppliers to build or renovate the home. A number of our readers are currently already involved and your work is appreciated. If you would like to assist, please contact John Hiatt hijohn3@juno.com .

The toymakers recently completed a few toys for distribution this Christmas which are showcased below;

  • Council - Entertaining, enjoyable, beneficial

This is the "Year of Faith" as announce by Benedict XVI, Pope emeritus which has four focus areas, faith professed, faith celebrated, faith lived, and faith prayed. Each council is encouraged to complete at least one activity in each of the four areas. The Year of Faith will close on 24th November. On 22 Jun, St. Charles hosted the visit of "The Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima". What a wonderful experience. Thank you to our fellow knights who were able to help out.

Please join the Respect Life Group Saturday 6Jul2013 at 4:30 pm. The Rosary begins at 4:30 pm in the church. All are welcome to come and pray the Rosary for Life.

We will be celebrating Corporate Communion at St. Charles on Sunday, 30Jun2013 at the 07:30 am mass. Please join us.

* Family - Strengthening family life

One of the featured programs in this area is food for families. Consider helping out at a soup kitchen or assisting with re-stocking our parish food pantries. Our Family Director position remains vacant. If you would like to explore this position, please contact one of our officers.

* Youth - Building leaders for the future

As we begin our new fraternal year, Bill Stump our youth director needs assistance with a number of our sponsored activities. Please contact him if you can assist.

* Culture of Life Activities -

A featured program with the Ultrasound Initiative seeks to provide medically certified pro-life pregnancy centers with the modern technology to monitor the health of the unborn baby, and to allow mothers to visually experience their development.

If you have any questions at all or would like further information concerning any of our programs, please see me. I can also be reached via email at gusbannick@yahoo.com.

Thank you,

Gustave Bannick

US Bishops' Officials Author Booklet for Blessing of Unborn Children Say New Parents Are Drawn Deeper Into Parish Life

A new booklet on "The Blessing of the Child in the Womb" co-authored by the vice president and associate general secretary of the U.S.

Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is now available from Our Sunday Visitor Publishing. "The Gift of Joy," by Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville, Kentucky, and Msgr. J. Brian Bransfield, a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, explains the vocation of Christian mothers and fathers and how it relates to parish life and society as a whole.

"The blessing of the child in the womb unites the parish," write Archbishop Kurtz and Msgr. Bransfield, noting that the blessing can be celebrated in the context of Sunday Mass. They add that the experience of having a child draws new parents deeper into their parish community and their faith as they accept the loving support of others.

"The Gift of Joy" is available online from Our Sunday Visitor:

Information on the blessing is available online:

 www.usccb.org/about/pro-life-activities/prayers/pro-life-blessings.cfm

"The Blessing of the Child in the Womb" originated at the request of then-Bishop Kurtz of Knoxville, Tennessee. USCCB's Committees on Pro-Life Activities and Divine Worship prepared a text, which was approved by the U.S. bishops in November 2008 and sent to Rome for final approval, which it received in 2012.

Archbishop Kurtz focused on the blessing in his intervention during the 2012 Synod of Bishops on the New Evangelization in Rome.
