Grand Knight's Report

Email Grand Knight

     Brother Knights,

               Spring time is finally here, and that means it's time for the annual KofC MO  State Convention.

     Gus Bannick and I will be representing our Council at the State Convention in Jefferson City, MO on April 26th ,27th, & 28th.  We will be attending a few seminars/breakouts, voting on some items/resolutions and bringing back some new information to help our Council.

               Bingo has done well the last few months.  Our head count seems to increase each month, and we are      selling a lot more pull tabs/special games each week.  This greatly increases our ability to do things within the Council and provide more charitable donations.  A BIG THANK YOU to all the brother Knights who volunteer their time and effort to make our Bingo fundraising a success.  Great job gentlemen!

Membership Director (email)

Congratulations to four council members  who advanced into the 2nd and 3rd Degree of our order.  We are proud to name David Chase, Michael Hernandez, Bruce Corbitt and Michael McAllister as brother knights.

We also should refer to Michael Cash and Len Kuklenski as Sir Knights.  They completed the Fourth Degree exemplification this past month.

We will be hosting a First Degree on Tuesday May 7th.  Candidates should arrive at 6:30 PM.  The degree ceremony will start at 7:00 PM followed immediately by our council meeting.
Programs and Services

Service Programs Update for April 2013;

* Church - Addressing the needs of the Church

It's getting that time of year again where knights from our council maintain the campus grounds at St. Charles. The first cutting has been completed and mowing teams are forming if you would like to help out. Don't let this guy have all the fun.

* Community - Shaping the world around us

Our toy makers continue the manufacturing of toys. Shown below is a pull toy train with cars

along with two of the cars in the build phase.

If you have time and enjoy working with your hands not to mention the great fellowship, please contact our master toy maker Lee Fox at bigfox27@kc.rr.com for more information.

* Council

This past week, an addition was made to the photo archives of our past Grand Knights. We received a nice letter with a photo enclosed from Leroy Steinke. He was Gran Knight from 1959 to 1960.

If you have any questions at all or would like further information concerning any of our programs, please see me. I can also be reached via email at gusbannick@yahoo.com.

Thank you,

Gus Bannick

Don't assume you can't afford DI

One of the biggest mistakes you can make regarding disability insurance is to assume you can't afford it or you won't qualify. Before you make that assumption, do some basic research and apply for coverage through the Knights of Columbus. The Order's Income Armor product gives you options that can help you fit this critical protection into your risk management budget.

For example, here are two ways you can reduce your premium:

1. Choose a two-year or five-year maximum benefit period.

Depending on your age, the best option is probably a policy that pays benefits until you reach age 67. But a two-year or five-year maximum benefit period would cover many types of partial or total disabilities you might encounter in your working life.

2. Choose a longer elimination period.

An elimination period is the number of days a total disability must exist before benefits begin to accrue. Typical elimination periods are 30, 90, or 180 days. Choosing a longer elimination period lowers the policy's premium. But be sure you have enough set aside in your business's contingency fund to account for the longer gap.

As your professional insurance agent, running a small business and the challenges of risk management are two of my specialties. Let's talk about how to protect your business income, your retirement needs, and your family's financial future

A word from the Ladies

    Spring is here and it is time for Convention!  We are excited to attend and maybe get some new ideas for our group.  We also hope there will be some inspiring ideas to recruit  new members to join our Ladies group.

We had a great meal at our April dinner.  The attendance was low, but we still made over $300.00 for our charities.  Thank you to everyone for helping with the dinner. We will not be hosting a dinner in May.  Since, it falls on Mother's Day we want everyone to take this time to spend with their Mom's or their wives (Mom's to their children).  Hopefully, it will be a nice sunny day.  Our next dinner will be June 9th, with a "Welcome Summer" theme. We will be serving pulled pork and brisket, corn on the cob, baked beans, salad, and fruit cobblers for dessert.  Jeff Neiman has volunteered to smoke the meat and make the baked beans for us.  We want to eat out side if the weather permits.  We hope everyone can attend.  This will be our last dinner until September when we host the "Steak and Chicken" dinner.
