Chamber to Honor Local Students and Educators at May 9 Education Awards Breakfast
The Greater McLean Chamber will honor students, staff and educators from McLean High School and Langley High School at its annual Education Awards Breakfast on May 9, 2013 from 7:30 until 9:00 am. The breakfast will be held at J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks and Seafood (6930 Old Dominion Drive, McLean) beginning at 7:30 am.
McLean High School Award winners include:
- Employee of the Year: Christine Spaulding
- Student of the Year: Ayesha Faisal
- Teacher of the Year: Claire Silva
Langley High School recipients include:
- Employee of the Year: Norma Jamsheed
- Student of the Year: Jackie Ryan
- Teacher of the Year: Jennifer Bonafide
"The McLean Chamber is delighted to host this awards ceremony and celebrate the remarkable dedication and accomplishments of this year's award winners," said Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce President Marcia Twomey. On May 17, 2013 the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce will be participating in and supporting Bike to Work Day. The Chamber, along with our partners, will begin placing shiny new bike racks all around town to help encourage participation in the biking movement. Calling all Non-Profits: Consolidated Community Funding Pool Reminder
Calling all area non-profits! Don't forget to review the Consolidated Community Funding Pool information and the program's RFP process to see if your organization is eligible. Eligible applicants are 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organizations or the cooperating jurisdictions of the City of Fairfax and Towns of Clifton, Herndon and Vienna.
The Consolidated Community Funding Pool (CCFP) funds projects that provide for: - Human services
- Affordable housing development administration and construction
- Acquisition and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing in Fairfax County
The next opportunity to apply for funding will be in the fall of 2013.
